Hi everyone!

Thought I'd post a real quick condo update for my mocha girl .. She's still doing really well, loving her freeze dried chicken treats from her OTJ annifursary .. We can now hold up the bag and wait for her to look .. once she see's that red bag, she's running right to us!

It's been super warm here the last few days and mocha has enjoyed the doors open and the sun coming on her rumpy she likes to tan so much .. She does not however like the stray dog that runs through our backyard every now and then .. she get's real low to the ground and starts backing away .. The dog has never once shown interest in her and never once barked near our house .. I wish we could catch it and try to find it a good home, but he's been running our area for almost 8 years and still runs at the sight of humans. I wonder what his story is ..

Anyways, not much to update .. Just wanted to say that I probably will be hit and miss on condo's this week. Helping my friend go through the final stages of her divorce, as well as my cousin  Sad both marriages came to an end, but it is what they all wanted .. Also, my aunt who was admitted into the hospital on Friday night with pneumonia like symptoms took a turn for the worse yesterday. She's having a very hard time with her surroundings, and isn't making much sense right now. They ran a cat scan last night looking for tumors, signs of a stroke or an aneurism which came back clean. They are now wondering if it was a combo of medication she was on, that is causing her to hallucinate and be so combative. Today they will stop her meds and we go from there .. Prayers are very much appreciated for her, and her family who are struggling with this new personality we've never seen before ...

I'm happy to hear Mocha is doing well and enjoying the warm weather. I am so sorry to hear about the divorces, they are so hard to go through. And very sorry to hear your Aunt in unwell. Sending lots of prayers of strength and healing for your family and your friend.

Thanks for the update, Devon. Too cute about Mocha and her various antics. :-D :-D I'm sorry about your aunt's health issues and the divorce proceedings. Hugs to you.

(((Devon & Mocha)))you have your hands full between your friend, cousin and your Aunt. I hope that they find out quickly why the sudden change in your Aunt and her personality....that is very disturbing indeed! Sending lots of healing vines to her and to the family too... That is so good of you to be there for everyone, Devon! :YMHUG:

Had to smile at the story of Mocha and her FD chicken!!! My two LOVE their freeze-dried chicken....they fall for the bag shaking trick too! They must have that chicken!!! Hope you guys have a happy day....

It's great to hear a good report of Mocha! Weezer is also a big fan of the freeze dried chicken. She likes to pick her own piece.

I'm sorry for all the difficulties coming at you right now. It's hard to watch loved ones go through breakups like that. I hope they can find the cause of your aunt's sudden change. Meds can do it, so maybe she'll come around when they are out of her system. Prayers and hugs, for you, your family and friends.

Devon --

FWIW, my mom had some similar issues with medications. She was disoriented and combative. Several people tried to convince me that this was Alzheimers. That's when I pulled her chart and started going through the medications and pointing out that her renal clearance wasn't so great and the combo of meds would make a linebacker disoriented. Sometimes, hospitals forget that other, mere mortals who may be smart and able to advocate for a patient. If you need help, ask to have a PharmD (someone with a doctorate in Pharmacy) look at your aunt's meds. These folks truly understand medication interactions -- something that not all MDs are particularly good at especially if there are several different MDs prescribing. Needless to say, I'm sending lots of vines your way.

(((Devon))) I always enjoy reports about Mocha. :-D
You really have your plate full, with being a friend to your cousin and friend.
Many prayers for your grandma, to get better, and for docs to find the answer to her personality issues.

Sending big hugs your way.

My grandmother did this when she was fighting CHF and her oxygen was low. Once they got her oxygen up she did better. I bet its the medication and not dementia. Hang in there.

So nice to see a condo for Mocha! Thinking of you Devon and all that you have to do over the next week. Divorces are never pretty and helping two people through them at once is a great thing for you to do. Sorry to hear about your aunt. Sending healing vines to your aunt and lots of hugs to you!

thank you everyone, for your prayers and support.

My parents have basically become my aunt/uncles caregivers because they have so many physical disabilities now. My aunt has had two knees replaced, her hips replaced, she's broken both of her wrists from falling, and they've never healed correctly so she has no strength in her arms. She JUST had surgery on her rotator cuff less then a month ago. She is on a ton of different medications for pain management.

Last wednesday my dad took her to the dr's, because of a terrible cold she had going on. The dr gave her cough syrup with codene(?) in it. That night, she fell in her bathroom, down to the floor on her behind. My dad was called up there to get her back in bed and that is where she stayed, nearly passed out for two days. My dad took her to the hospital on Friday, where she was admitted with low oxygen and low blood pressure.

She started receiving meds there for her cold (x rays showed chest was clear) and by saturday she was looking so much better. On sunday my mom ran clean nightgowns to her and she seemed coherent. But Sunday night my cousin (her son) called and asked my mom if she noticed anything different with his mom. She said no, why, and he explained she wasn't making sense. Then it just got worse from there on. She's biting nurses, pulling out her IV's, she's throwing whatever she can get her hands on, she's yelling at the top of her lungs about spies coming in her room and spying on her .. she thinks everyone is against her ... she's hallucinating and combative. They had to nearly knock her out for her cat scan. They gave her three shots of a sedative in her hip and it did not even phase her. So they gave her another sedative, starts with an H? Anyways, she got two of those shots and was able to have the cat scan which came back clean.

Today they are going to look at her meds, and see if there is a reaction going on. They have talked about the possibility of a pure mental break down, but it's hard for us to believe that.

We just know this is NOT her usual behavior, and it's hard to explain it to these dr's who are only seeing her like this.

I will let the family know some of you have experienced this with family members as well .. Thank you for the prayers, and I really do hope to get to a few condos this week! Know I am thinking of you all!

A Mocha Condo! My day is complete.... :-D

Devon, this is so hard to deal with - my older sister was prescribed a multitude of meds that caused something that sounds like this too. Unfortunately she wasn't in the hospital - her DH said it all sort of hit at once. She began not making sense, got up and starting packing dishes "to move to Mexico" then flitted off to the bedroom to "count her shoes because she thought someone was stealing them". It got worse from there altho' she never became violent. He got her to hospital, took about 36 hours off all meds for her to finally recover to herself. It had also created some kind of chemical imbalance in her body adding to all of it. She's been OK since but her DH watches her meds very closely.

BIG HUGE HUG...and another one...and prayers too....

Thank you Lyresa ..

It is a comfort knowing others on here have gone through the same thing, and have seen good results in the end. She is totally off her meds now and she has been in bed all day, unlike yesterday when she was ready to tackle anyone who walked through her door. She is however, still very verbal at this point.

Devon, we are sending many healing vines for your aunt. My aunt had similar issues when she was hospitalized in the 1990s. We thought her weird behavior was because she was very old and freaking out since she had never been in the hospital before (never been really sick, either), but reading the various comments on your aunt's issues, I wonder now if it was caused by conflicting medicines she received in the hospital. Sienne's advice to consult a pharmacist PhD is a good one.

I hope you can help resolve the relatives' divorce problems. What a good thing that you have Mocha to help you through this tough time!

Thinking of you and sending hugs to you and Peter,

Ella & Rusty

Sending tons of positive thoughts, and healing vines for your aunt, Devon. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Great job on Mocha! I love it when they're active. Blackie does the same thing, whenever I open that fridge, that is.

Missed this condo Oh So Sorry dear friends--
My step mom also was over medicated for years, that she was on so many drugs, she hallucinated, incoherent, disoriented, and belligerent--
My DF had RA like me & at 83 yrs old they gave him a morphine pump under the skin thingy--
He started falling, acted totally stoned, had withdrawal symptoms if he didnt get right dose, and a million other bad effects! From my social work background, It is a fact that elderly people do no do well on pain meds, especially narcotic ones-
Praying that you aunt feels better & the cause will be found--
Happy WCR-Love you guys--Hugs from us!

(((Devon))) sending vines for your aunt, hope they get it sorted out soon.

Nice report on Mocha though
