He's still on a fairly low dose overall Silvi. And, of course, the right dose for any cat is the one that works. I know of cats that have never needed more than 1u...yet there are others with high dose conditions that need what sounds like a crazy amount of insulin to most of us. Most cats fall somewhere in between those 2 extremes. It is not unlikely that Markies has a degree of glucose toxicity at this point, so it isn't completely unexpected that you would need to take his dose higher than you did the last time he saw several days of good numbers. But he will get there - I thought we were never going to find Roxi's breakthrough dose...she got all the way to 6.5u before she started coming back down...but we did, and she's doing way better for it.

Work the new dose Markies .

Silvi, don't get hung up on the dose amount . What ever it takes to have them start earning reductions. I was reluctant to take Bubba up also when he was first DX and I did him a disservice by having him get stuck with glucose toxicity and he developed ketones . It took him to get all the way to 5.25 units until he started coming down again. Presently he is OTJ

Work the dosecrease Markies.
Its just that we´ve been on 0.50, 1.75 and I can´t believe having to increase again.. but well, I have to face it... there are things even worse. I uderstand that sentence that there may be some glucose toxicity and until I take him to the vet I will not know if there is something else.

Thank you gils. Im updating ss now. Numbers little better, more yellows

wow!!! how long he has been diagnosed with diabetes!! Markies arround 3 years aprox.

Quick question. Can you remind me. To change schedule, instead to shoot at 4 am to shoot at 3 am, I remember that I can shoot in advance 30 minutes every 24 hours or 15 minutes per cycle. So help me with this. If today I already I shoot 30 minutes early, tonight I have to keep the same time schedule and tomorrow evening I can again shoot 30 minutes 30 monites early?

for example.
3/19 2.30hs amps - 4 pmps (shoot late)
3-20 4hs. amps - 3.3 pmps
3 - 21 3.3 amps - could be 3 pmps??

Also, how frequently do you suggest me to test Markies no on his new dose? at what time?

Those numbers are MUCH better - he almost made it to blue!

The size of the dose really doesn't matter - it's finding a dose that works for Markies. Try not to get too hung up on how much insulin he's getting, and focus instead on how much better his numbers are looking.

Yes, you can only move his shot back by 30 minutes a day. So if you shot 30 minutes early this morning, then you have to keep the same time for tonight's shot and then move him back 30 minutes again tomorrow.

I would try to vary the test times a little. Today's tests were good because they showed his number coming down. Maybe tomorrow you can move the tests an hour in one direction or the other to see what's happening in between and around the numbers you got today.

working on that ;)

yes. thats my intention, it happens that + 7 or +8 usually is when I go to moms house for dinner.. but I need those numbers... tomorrow will be a special day...
we will go to the doctor in the afternoon together, then I will go to the doctor myself in the evening and then I come back, I will try to skip dinner with mom and stay test +7 and +8 or ask her to come dinner with me (which is almost impossible since I don´t have chairs and table, I just have a couch and mom hates that, lol).

we will see... this are things are difficult to handle now.... turns arround mom (at nights) so its difficult to stay just to test and not have dinner with her... I don´t know when is going to be the last... but may be she can come home... will try to bring her..

thank you dear... you are there all the time for me...that is so conforting.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

You can always move the tests an hour earlier instead of an hour later if that works better. Or really just whatever you can do. I know your circumstances are difficult at the moment and you're doing really well to get the number of tests you're doing. Don't worry too much if you can't move the times around all that much. Just keep doing what you can - he's definitely had better numbers today and you're doing enough testing to prove that. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

wow!!! how long he has been diagnosed with diabetes!
The first time he went into remission was about 14 months after DX and he was knocked out of remission from a bad tooth after about 6 weeks and then the next time he lost remission from a GI bacteria infection and that was after about 6 weeks also So he has been a work in progress . This remission has been since Feb 22 so I hold my breath with every AM PM test ( I still test everyday )

Good luck with the new dose :bighug:

Today I knew in advance I was going to be out many hours (from 3 pm to 9 pm) so I fed little carbs (canned whiskas). No spike fortunately.

That's OK - we all have to be out for longer than we might like sometimes. And the carbs worked...he's not really high, but you know he was safe. :)
