Hi Linda,

Sorry to hear that you are back from the Falls. I hope Scooter gets back on track as soon as those antibiotics clear that infection, and he doesn't require any intervention

I was reading Jack's spreadsheet and noticed that his kidney values are a bit high. Have you talked to your vet about giving Sub-q Fluids at home. Also, I also noticed that you feed Friskies food. I have read that foods high if phosphorous are not good for the kidneys. I don't know the research regarding it, but after Sammy's kidney values were reading high I moved him to a low phosphorous food, under 250 mg/100 kcal. Most of the Friskies varieties are much higher in phosphorous, and I try to only feed them to Sammy sparingly.

Hi Linda:

I agree with Tina about the Friskies. When Harvey was first diagnosed with early CKD, I switched all my kitties to lower phosphorus foods and his kidney values returned to normal! I was feeding Wellness grain free, but have had a few issues with that. I feed mostly Friskies Special Diet Turkey & Giblets, Evo 95% Chicken & Turkey, and some of the Dave's Cat Food varieties. @Ann & Tess has a nice list attached to her spreadsheet of low phosphorus foods that are also safe for FD kitties, if you want ideas.

Looks like Jack is clearing his bounce nicely. Keep it smooth, now, Jack! Nothing too dramatic, please!

Thanks Tricia I also have a pm into Marje since she has a lot of experience with ckd as well. I am praying this 86 is a gift. His bounce was because of the Karo last night about 9 hrs ago. I did get ahold of Tater last night and got his meds into him. I think he was wondering why I was not in bed so I had the element of surprise. I was only able to trim 1/2 his front nails but I got my cuddle time although he thinks it torture. ok time for a 2 hr nap for me then off to Walmart for more supplies.
