Hello L&LL!

Happy Spring! We got snow today, but it looks pretty. It's a good night to stay in with the cats.

Someone vomited a little brown liquid in the middle of the night - I'm thinking Billie. She came to hang out on my pillow probably around the same time, and her purring sounded very gurgley. The gurgling sound used to happen before her asthma was under control. I'm not sure what's up. Her purring sounds normal now - it was just like that for maybe 20 minutes. I called the vet and she said that if the vomit is just an isolated thing, not to worry. I got very nervous based on everything that has been going on, but I know that kitties just vomit sometimes, and it doesn't have to mean anything at all.

Her appy has been pretty good today with no additional vomiting, so that's cool. I'm wondering if her food allergies are getting ready to flare up since she has been eating poultry for a couple weeks. That could explain the vomit and the congestion in her purring since her food allergies can trigger her asthma. I don't know what to feed her if that becomes a problem, because she is all about the Fancy Feast now. We'll see what happens. She did eat some EVO duck at first tonight, but she stopped and gave me that "Where's the Fancy Feast?" look, so she got FF Chicken.

She seems to be doing okay overall. She has been napping a lot today, but she played with her toys in the middle of the night. She had a big bounce this morning after hitting 100ish last night, but I think the dosecrease to 1.5 is getting her back on track.

I hope everyone is doing okay! Sending lots of vines to the kitties and beans needing vines.

Have you tried turkey or is she allergic to it as well. If not try the fancy feast turkey and giblets classic. They do list "poultry" giblets so I don't know if it is actually turkey or it could be chicken. I hope it is an isolated incident.

Oh no on the vomiting. I hope it was just a one time deal. I'm glad she sounds better. Sasha gets that sound sometimes, too. I think it's her allergies acting up. Sounds kind of scary when it happens, but the vet told me it's nothing to worry about, as long as it goes away again. I'm glad she's eating well, even if it is forbidden foods. We know all about that around here. I swear my kitties can read the phosphorus content on the cans and if it's below a certain amount, they want nothing to do with it!

Thanks for the visits, Elise and Tricia.

Billie just had a bunch of diarrhea, so now I am super freaked out :( It was light brown/dark tan, and there was quite a bit of it. It's weird, because she had a totally normal poo like 2 hours ago. She has been eating - a pretty good amount of grazing tonight. But she did seem like she didn't feel well. Her regular vet is open tomorrow so I think I will bring her in. It is possible that the change in food is upsetting her stomach, but I am worried about the IBD/lymphoma possibilities and other possibilities. I really hope it's just the food. I have no idea what I can feed her if the poultry is upsetting her stomach and she won't eat her rabbit or pork. She doesn't usually like beef. I'm going to run out to the grocery store and get some pork to make boiled pork. She usually likes that, and it's probably good to give her something bland? Poor girl.

Bland is good. Do you have Forti Flora to give her for the diarrhea? That should help. It could be the change in food, but she's been on it for several days, hasn't she? I agree it might be a good idea to take her in tomorrow. Sending healing vines and :bighug::bighug::bighug:.

Thank you Tricia - I do have Fortiflora. She has been on the FF for over a week, maybe longer. So she probably would have reacted sooner if she were reacting to the food? The only new thing she had today was the EVO Duck.

I was wondering about the duck, hoping that's the source of the problem and that the forti flora fixes it right up.

Aww, poor Billie - I hope it was just a one time thing.

I can't remember, have you tried her on lamb or venison?

Thank you for the visits. Wendy, I haven't found a lamb option that she will eat and doesn't have duck in it. She likes Hound & Gatos lamb, but there is duck liver in it. I was thinking of ordering some Ziwipeak. Our pet store technically carries it but they are always out. She used to like Instinct venison but hasn't wanted Instinct lately, and she sort of likes Evo venison, but it's hit or miss. I guess I will go back to those proteins though, in case the poultry is the problem.

I did some googling and found that it can take up to two weeks for food allergy symptoms to return after old allergens are introduced, so that is a possibility. We are right around the 2 week mark for poultry in general, and maybe 10 days with the Fancy Feast. I really hope that's all this is. I know for a fact that she has food allergies, so it does make sense. But it doesn't explain the initial appy loss and weight loss. I hate these mysteries.

It very well could be the food. I hope so considering the other possibilities. Finding pure foods is so difficult when you need novel protein though. :bighug::bighug:

I hope that you can determine the source of the upset and that all will be better tomorrow. I hear you on the food allergies. Rusty's fave FF is the Turkey & Giblets.

Hugs and scritches and vines!

Thanks Elise and Ella! We had a weird plot twist... Brooklyn had diarrhea early this morning. It looked exactly the same as what I saw last night. I was sure it was Billie's last night because I noticed it right after she left the litter box. But, it wasn't stuck in her fur at all, which is odd... So maybe it was Brooklyn all along, and I'm so paranoid about Billie that I just zeroed in on her. Or maybe it's both of them. But it's definitely not just Billie, which is kind of a relief.

I gave both of them some boiled pork this morning with Hound & Gatos but neither cat ate much. I'm at work now but DBF is going to check on them. I will be home to play poo detective later...

Home from work... One healthy poo in the litter box! No diarrhea, no vomit. Phew. Maybe it was the Evo duck that did it. I am going to stick with the Fancy Feast and see how they do. It is really the only thing Billie wants to eat. Thank you for the vines!!!
