Before dinner she was in the 140s. Checked at +4 and had a "blood barely seeps out even when milking and seeps into fur instead of forming drop" poke. Was about to give up my stroking of the strip along the fur and try the other (better) ear when the meter beeped. It said 25 and I jumped into action! I couldn't believe she could be so low without acting any differently. Immediate food including some kibble, and an attempt to rub sugar solution on her gums that didn't really work because she doesn't like it (so I got a tiny bit on her teeth). Took blood sugar again (good ear this time) less than 10 minutes later and it was 109, more like where I would have expected on the way down from her dinner (especially since I left her lick a little of the pasta alfredo bowl after dinner). One minute later it was 118, so the carbs were kicking in. So now I'm wondering if the 25 might have been a bad reading on the cheap meter and I carb-loaded her with some kibble for nothing and now I'm spiking her blood sugar. Kicking myself for not taking a second reading before whipping out the food -- I blame the panic/guilt for not thinking of that at the time.

I'm ready to drop her down to .5 tomorrow because of the 25 reading, but could use some advice on deciding if the 25 sounds like a real reading or a bad one. During the tracking when I compared this meter to the contour, most of the time it was close enough to not to cause worry, but it was further off often enough to make me wonder (one time it was off by 40 points). I have contour next strips arriving this week, so I'll go back to that meter once they get here.
