Yesterday was.... a better day in MannieLand. :-D :-D Mannie started out in yellow - that was great to see. He managed to hold on to the pinks for a bit, but then back to those darn reds for pmps. Things have been better BG wise for him since the dosecrease. I will let him settle more before considering another one. I still need to research the meds he is on, see how this all ties in with his FD, I just haven't had the time... bad bean! I'd also like to post on Health to see if anyone out ether is also dealing with a kitty with Aldosteronism. In the meantime I hope for a good day today, more blues would be so cool! Mannie - here's to you, some very strong feel better, be blue vines. With a mid yellow amps we are off to a good start. :-D Lubs ya big guy! cat_pet_icon

All is well in MannieLand. :-D :-D Nicholas was back yesterday, and of course he had to say hello to Mannie. We had a few pets, a few words: "Man-NIE!". And then he was off doing Nicholas things. Mannie stayed out some this morning watching Nicolas. That was nice to see - reminded me of days of old when they hung out alot together. Since Mannie has been sick those moments are very short. Mannie had an OK day yesterday. We had a moment after a test when his legs failed him, and he sank to the floor. That nearly broke my heart. He couldn't stand up. So I picked him up, hugged him and told him it was OK, not to worry. He was fine after that, the bean? not so much. Something I need to watch, he was fine the rest of the day. We had a brief sun break late in the afternoon, after DGS had gone home, so I took Mannie outside. It was so great to see him work the yard, check out EVERYTHING, and sniff ever so hard. The winds were really strong, the scents coming through that yard must have been great. :-D He walked it all sniffing like crazy, head up, squinty eyed.  It was so cool. Appy has been good (picky !!!, but good), CPC yesterday and this morning, LB is normal, Ketones tests have been negative. Test was good this morning, as was the shoot. Normalcy in MannieLand. :-D

Have a great day everyone! it will be catch up day here,a s it is every Caturday: shopping, laundry, errands, cleaning... all the fun stuff! Weather permitting, I hope to get out for a hike too.

Hey everybody! What's up! I was thinking.... maybe we could just go and hang out at Rusty's today, camp out on the radiators. maybe bake some cookies. Tells stories and stuff. What'd'ya think? Anybody got anything they wanna do? let me now I am ready for anything!~~ Mannie

OT: Here's the Picassa link to the photos from DGS and my adventure yesterday: Swimming. I discovered too the other day that Picassa also uploads the videos. so... look for the picture with the little triangle in the corner (usually upper left?) that indicates video. anyways - here's the link: Swimming The other day I put together a Room for Nicholas, that will be his place to sleep etc once the new grandkid makes an appearance. I still have some things to do in it to make it more kid friendly, but the bed is done. DGS loved it. I thought I'd share a few photos from his first moments in it: Nick's Bed

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396

Morning Michelle :-D

Glad to see all is well & Normalcy
However Mannie... well and normal does include lower numbers than those.... I know you're doing your best tho ;-)

Have a great weekend!

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396

Morning Michelle! Hope Mannie comes down for you today and you all have a great Saturday!

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396

Ugh, heart is in my throat reading about his legs....he will adjust and adapt. It's us who have to figure out how to make it easier and adjust/adapt. ugh...

Hey Mannie,

It's going to be 40's and sunny today! So hanging out is a good idea! And maybe we can find a mechanic to fix my wave runner! Someone took it for a spin and had a little too much fun with it. Now, it just goes putt putt instead of vroom vroom!

My beans says thanks for her tea and her special brownie delivery! :o I told her you don't make brownies and I asked her where she found it and well....you know what I think it is! I think the nasty fake drooler deliverer left it behind! I told her not to eat it and to throw it away and always look for the official Mannie Kitteh Barista delivery paw print stamp before accepting any deliveries!

Phew! I saved my bean today!

Signed Maui the Magnificent - my bean's hero

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396, +2 554

554 @ +2. :YMSIGH:  I really did not expect that... maybe a food spike but that much? Mannie, turn around dude. ;-)

Morning Jo ~O) ~O) ~O) THX!, and I do too.

Morning Hillary ~O) ~O) ~O) yupp, it just broke my heart to see that. It was a one time thing, he hasn't repeated it, it was slick tile floor, but... just very sad. I truly hope the meds will help him. i dunno... it seems too that this new one is somehow affecting his BG level: back to the really high stuff since we started it. Guess I need to call the IM vet about that.... and yes, he does adjust, gets around OK most of the time. so yes, we have adjusted a few things for him so that it is easier. ;-)

Maui! WHAT! The drooler imposter was back???? HMPH! You saved her!! I also ave my stamp of approval on all my deliveries - it is signature ya know? I bet the drooler ate her croissant... I best bring another. OH OH ON THE WAVE RUNNER... BUMMER! We fix it right up. See ya in a few! ~ Mannie

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396, +2 554

Morning Michelle and Mannie, come back this way! Oh so sorry about Mannie and his legs. Thanks for explaining yesterday what happens with his mobility and muscles. I went back and read your response and didn't get back to answering. I sure hope this new med helps and someone here or on Health has experience with it. Mags is moving slower these days, too. Sending lots of healing vines for Mannie and hope this is a good day for him. How exciting and when is the expected due date for new grandchild? Great on the pics and will click on them. Have a great day Michelle, oh ugh with the cleaning, I know. Maybe a mini hike or walk, too.
Mannie, many thanks as you sure do have me covered, excellent coffee, Auntie Ann

A chillaxin day at Rusty's sounds like a plan. Baking cookies and of course, niptunis, too. See ya Mannie, at the curb, Mags

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396, +2 554

Good Morning Michelle. Your heart must have been in your throat when Mannie went down. Susan and I both ended up covering all the pretty tiled floors, with runners, etc, when our droolers kept slipping and going down.

Checks' legs are weaker now, and it scares me when he walks on the edges of tables, counter, etc.
I never hear you say that Mannie gets up on things....does he?

Hey Mannie, get on down here, and stop worrying your mama and aunties!

Have a fun day with chores, Michelle :-D

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396, +2 554, +4.5 557

557 @ +4.5. hmmmmm. not liking this trend much. I really think this is the new med, will have to talk to the IM vetty about this.

Hi Barb ~O) ~O) ~O) Yep, that was difficult to watch. But I was glad that it was a one time ting, so far. He has trouble somewhat on the tile floors, so I'm glad he only has that in the kitchen area. and I know on them walking on high things when they have mobility issues. Mannie really no longer does those climb up or jump up on things. It's like he knows he shouldn't. He will wait til we pick him up. He seems to get down ok, so far. well, we do he best we can to make things doable for him, help when he needs it. Hey - thanks on the chores!
Auntie Barb - ok... I will try! PROMISE! ~ Mannie

Hi Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) You are welcome on the explanations, I hope i did it justice. I hope the new meds help this, and as with all things and Mannie, I know too I have to give it time. I have been reading posts form the past on this illness, and they are informative, state pretty much what I am seeing with Mannie. As long as he doesn't develop other issues we may be able to manage this. paws crossed. So far today has been a good one for him - up and about as much as he wants to be. ;-) on the new baby: due date 6/27. WOW - that is getting closer! :-D :-D THX on the rest - I hope for a mini hike - it soothes the soul, so out I shall go.
Auntie Ann - excellent! See you for an afternoon pick-me-up? ~~ Mannie, kitteh barista

Maggie! WOOT! Let's do it then. Oh yes on the niptinis! Excellence idea. See you at the curb. ~~ Mannie

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396, +2 554, +4.5 557

Good morning, Michelle! ~O) I'm sorry you had a scare with Mannie yesterday. Has that happened before, his wobbly legs? (((Michelle))) Sending vines to Mannie and wishing him a much better day today. Also, I've been enjoying all of your photos and videos on fb. Nicholas is just too cute! Have a great day, guys!

Re: 3/2 Mannie AMPS 396, +2 554, +4.5 557

Good morning, Michelle!
It's so hard seeing our furbabies having moments of weakness -- we beans are definitely more bothered by it (esp. emotionally) than our kitties. (The other night Ripley fell of the couch, and she was nowhere near the edge. She was not bothered by it, but I had a moment of panic followed by more moments of sadness.) I'm glad Mannie recovered and went back to his patrolling and DGS-watching. I can just picture his sweet face sniffing madly in the breeze.

I hope you guys have a great day today!

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434

I'm hoping Mannie has a bit of downward momentum now. That day was a write-off, but I hope you took the permission slip to do something for yourself. We are finally getting blue skies here.

I am so sorry to hear about Mannie and his legs/balance. Like everyone else, that was a heart in throat moment. Did Mannie ever experience neuropathy? Just wondering if the higher numbers are getting to him at all or whether it's just the potassium. Paws crossed you get to the bottom of that one quickly. Nice to see he was patrolling the yard again.

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434

434 @ PMPS. well... almost pink! I hope he will bring things down tonight. :-D

Hi Courtney - No on the wobbly legs, not like that. He does have a stance/gait/leg strength issue due to his Aldosteronism. Hopefully the meds will help with this, but so far, not so much. And THX for the vines. It has been a better day for him, at least no repeats of yesterdays thing. Hey THX on the FB stuff. There is alot... omg... overkill almost. But I am glad you are enjoying him. He really loves all that we do - I anxiously await the return of hiking season - he loves to go to the rivers and the mountain lakes.

Hi Josie - yes, it is hard. and I so agree - it certainly bothered me alot more than it did him. It was just a sad moment for me. I am glad too that it seems to have been a onetime thing - hope that stays. Me too on him recovering - and back to his stuff. It was fun to get him outside, he loves it out there. I had to smile when you wrote about being able to see his face madly sniffing. That is exactly the way it was: madly sniffing!

Hi Wendy - me too on the downward momentum. It was such a surprise to see him go black today. well, he seems to be heading down, so we will hope for a good night. ANd yes on the write off today. My son stopped by to help fix a TV problem, and I begged him to do my house gutters . He was nice enough to say yes, so we cleaned gutters    We have alot of fir trees here and gutters clogged with needles is a never ending battle... so no play, but the gutters are free flowing again - just in time for the evening rains. ANd yes on the Mannie and the legs/balance. He has never had any problem with neuropathy in the almost 5 years he has been a diabetic. I really think it is his aldosteronism, as it is one of the main symptoms. I will ask the IM vetty when I call on Monday, as I need to see how all these meds work with his FD, as it seems that since med #2 was started his BG's have gone through the roof.... and a big yes on his yard patrol.

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434

((((Michelle)))) That is so distressing. I hope the meds kick in and he gets his strength back. Come down, Mannie!
Liz

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434

Hi Liz - and thanks. It really was. We are really hoping that the meds help him. It's only been a few days that he has been on the second one, so paws crossed that we see something soon.

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434

((((Michelle)))))
doesn't sound like the best day.... but good to have help with gutter chores. ;-)
I hope it's just a blip for Mannie.... and the new meds start helping. ( note to self- make sure to come see what your vet has to say monday )

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434, +2 390

390 @ +2. YAY! PINK! well,a t east it is down...

Hi Barb - THX!! Much appreciated :-D :-D

Hi Rhiannon - THX I hope too that it was just a blip, so far it is so, and hasn't happened again. He still has problems, but that "failure" yesterday was heartbreaking. anywyas - I hope I can connect with her on Monday. I am still hoping on the meds - it often takes while for things to start working for him. n and yes on the day - not the bestest ever, but at least a few things are now taken care of, and that does feel good.

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434, +2 390

Yay...Mannie is bringing it down. Keep it coming, Mannie!!

Oh, I so know how you feel about yesterday's incident...it's so hard and emotionally draining for us beans. Hopefully those new meds will start working their magic soon. Yep, the meds could be contributing to his higher numbers, too...I know you'll get that figured out for sure!

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434, +2 390

Thanks Amy - I so hope on the meds. The more I read and try to understand the ore I think that is the case with the meds and the higher BG's. and yes on yesterday's incident. It was hard, and very emotional. So we did what we could for him, and off he sauntered to find the nanners. What a guy! so we will call the IM vetty and try and confirm what I suspect... in the meantime - work meds!!

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434, +2 390

Awwww, I've been missing my sweet Mannie! Keep on coming down, big buddy! Shasta sends kisses! Big ((hugs)) to you, Michelle! Keep lovin' on that boy.

Re: 3/2 Mannie PMPS 434, +2 390

Hi Michelle & Mannie,

So sorry to get to your condo so late. Parsifal was terrific and we had a good time with friends we hadn't seen in over a month.

The leg weakness must surely be worrisome for you and I hope that it is only an occasional thing and that the meds will begin to have an effect. It is so tough dealing with a condition that is rather rare and apparently not well documented for the layman. It's good that Mannie does not let it get to him. He just keeps doing the best he can. What a great kitty he is! Rusty is also slower now that he is getting older. He used to charge upstairs; now he walks up. And he uses a hassock to get up onto the bed. I don't know how much of this is because of his breathing issue and how much is simply that he is older (we don't really know how old he is).

The kitties had a good time on the radiators today, listening to the Parsifal broadcast on the radio. I smelled cookies baking when we got home.

Here's hoping that Mannie's dosecrease will bring down his numbers. Rusty got one this evening, too.

Have a good evening. Hang in there. It's not easy, but you and Mannie are doing so well.

Ella & Rusty

p.s. Nick's new bed looks just perfect.

392 @ +5. I guess flat is good. Maybe we will wake up to yerllow. That would be nice. :-D

Hi Deborah - Hey thanks! Mannie likes those big hugs! And will do - lovin' that big guy? so easy to do! THX too on the B's - I hope he does too.

Hi Ella - no worries. I am glad you enjoyed the opera - it sounds like quite the production. Very nice too I am sure to see old friends. Sometimes that is the best part. and yes it is: worrisome. He hasn't gotten any worse, short of that one incident. Some days he does well, others no so much. I keep hoping on the meds, do know it may take a little extra time with him for them to ave effect. oh yes on the documentation, as it is not a common ailment. I agree too on that he does not le it gt to him: he does what he wants in the best manner he can, he's ok with it, so it seems. It is tough when they get old, start to have problems. we just keep n helping the best way we can, as you are with Rusty. THX on the dosecrease - that will be in a day or so. Thanks you so much for your kind words... means alot! and I think Nicholas's bed is cool too. He likes it, that is the main thing. A few things to fix in the room itself to make it more kid friendly.
