Decided to pushed it a little and stay with 1u to see if we can keep those numbers in the blue all day. I'll be here to check. ohmygod_smile

Re: 3/2 FRED AM=215(1)

Kathleen, you should go back and read your first post. You've come so far, so fast! Great dose choice, glad to see you pushing it a little and monitoring.

Re: 3/2 FRED AM=215(1)

Wow!! thanks so much for the encouragement. Actually, I'd be too embarrassed to read that post!! Thank you all for being such knowledgeable & patient teachers!!

See you back here at +5!!

Re: 3/2 FRED AM=215(1)

You sounded no different than any other mother of a new diabetic. We were all terrified and confused and completely overwhelmed. Sometime you might pick a terrified newbie on Health and just share how much easier things get over time. It's a great way to pay it forward. :-D

Re: 3/2 FRED AM=215(1)

Never thought I could do that, but I guess you're right....being terrified is the worse part. I may just give that a try - just moral support....no testing/shooting stuff yet!

Hi Kathleen and Fred! Yep, just moral support - remember how much that meant when you arrived and were so scared? Scared Fred was going to die? Scared you couldn't do it? You were shaking just holding that syringe? That awful feeling in the pit of your stomach? Trying to get blood for a test and it wasn't happening? Remember how you felt it was YOUR fault things were not just sailing along? We've all been there. Just having someone stop by with a hug helps SO much! New beans with newly dx'd extra sweet kitties arrive often.

BIG HUGS TO YOU TOO!!!

Re: 3/2 FRED AM=215(1);+5=188

Think the 1u paid off. Will test again at +7 to see if he's bottomed out.

I'll look in on the hEALTH forum this evening to see if anyone needs a little encouragement. You're right, the fears can tie you in knots and keep your from moving forward. It truly was the worst for me, so I might as well try and help someone else through those early days.

Thanks!!

Re: 3/2 FRED AM=215(1);+5=188;+7=142

Hey - look at this!! 167 at +10. Might be a good PMPS. But, if it's under 200 should I back off the 1.0 and go for .8? Or should I let the 1.0 create lower possibilities for the evening & night?
Here's where I'm not so sure of things. And, how much will his food at PMPS play a part in his BG numbers as the evening go on? I really think this low-carb diet is making a difference.

Re: 3/2 FRED AM=215(1);+5=188;+7=142

Go with your gut. If you get a few tests in to see how things are looking, one unit should be okay. If you want to sleep and not worry, maybe .8? But I would be sure he is near 200.

Going with 1.0. Trying to heal that pancreas!!
I'll check at least once more at about +4 or +5, but I think he'll be OK. I'll keep an eye on him, but he's been low before without side effects.
He had a hefty snack at +10, which could have effected the numbers, but I suspect it was wearing off by then.
A little nudge at a "fat 8" would be OK, too, but there's not much difference, so I think I'll go for it!
Poor Fred!! His mother has become a gambler with his life!!!! nailbite_smile

Nice PMPS!

I think 1.0u looks good. You're doing a great job starting to spot patterns in how Fred does with a particular dose! Once you start to have a feel for it, you can feel more comfortable being more "aggressive" in dosing to try to get those better numbers.
