Re: 3/19 Tiki - AMPS 61, PMPS 69,

Tiki still has his bell bottoms on and is partying the day away in the 60's!

Wondering if Tiki is constipated and perhaps the reason why he isn't eating. Found some stray turds in the house NOT in the kitty box - it was cleaned and new little put in yesterday so it wasn't because it wasn't up to snuff. His poops were rock hard (or so says my roommate who (ahem) found them first, whoops).

If constipation is an issue, is there anyway to alleviate it without turning it into another (runny) issue? I never see him drink much - even when his numbers were high and all he did was pee....it's like he is the stealth water bowl licker. I NEVER EVER see him drinking. He used to jump onto the bathroom counter and hovered there til I turned on the faucet for him but he hasn't done that in months and months now.

do you add water to his canned food? that's another way to get some water into him. some people add miralax daily - hopefully your comment in the subject line will bring people who have experience with that.

I give Racci 1/4 tsp. bid of Miralax every day because she is always constipated. She's an old lady and big, about 19 lbs. Depending on size and how bad it is, you can give 1/8 to 1/4 tsp 2x daily of Miralax. It's very gentle and can't hurt kitty. Some ppl mix it in the food. I can't take a chance on it not being eaten because she gets so miserable or her smelling it or tasting it since I just switched her to wet food, so I premix it with water and give it by syringe, then give more water with her water bowl.

The vets recommend it, including our vet member, Dr. Lisa Pierson.
