3/19 Moron's AMPS 226

Hi,
Moron's last few cycles were wacky. I forgot to refrigerate his insulin(which was soon to be replaced already)on the 18th. I wanted to wait until today to use the new insulin because I can be with him. So I hope this is why the strange run of numbers. Any ideas? Oh I did feed the canned rabbit maybe it is lower in carbs than the ff chicken? I am planning to run a curve today. Thanks, Jill & Moron
 
hi jill - i think what you're calling wacky numbers is a bounce. night before last, moron (ohmygosh i want to snicker) got into the 60's, which for him is lower than his body is used to. it caused his liver to panic, thinking moron was becoming hypoglycemic, and the liver released stored sugars and counter-regulatory hormones to save moron's life. the liver gets accustomed to whatever range they are mostly in, and when they get into a lower range, that's what happens.

so you saw higher numbers the next day, and it looks like the bounce might've even cleared by this morning's amps of 226. that's a good thing. some bounces can take 3 days to clear, but the more the body is used to the lower ranges, the shorter the bounce lasts.

actually looking like a pretty good dose for him. if he can get used to it and stop bouncing, you're going to have a really pretty spreadsheet!
 
It looks to me like you're seeing some really good numbers. And...like Julie noted, you're seeing some bouncing.

The other thing that may not be obvious and where the color coding doesn't work in your favor is that there's about 20% variance in numbers due to the meter. So, when you looked at last night's numbers, they were all pretty much within +/-20% of each other despite the yellow and pink.

Thanks for the the replies. His numbers look good today on new vial.
If it were up to him,he would like me home every day to lounge through the day with him.

What the heck happened? He was bugging me for food at +11 and I gave him a tsp of FF chicken, went up nearly 100 from that? huh.. :-|
 
It's probably just more bounce action Jill, from the lovely 81 today. Try not to worry too much, the more time Moron spends in those lower numbers the more his liver will get used to him being there and will stop trying to 'save his life'.
