Just ate (inhaled) a full can of FF Gravy

Retest in 20. Do you feed more than one can? Or wait until you retest.
She is acting normally (just hungry or loves the gravy food).
HOme to monitor.

Can you retest the 27? Just to make sure it's not a wonky strip?

As for feeding, I usually just feed a few teaspoons of food. It takes 20-30 minutes to see the impact from the carbs in the BG.

I retested when I got the low number- THe first reading was 27 and the second 29. So I fed. Just read the "Don't panic section" and saw the advice for feed spoonfuls at a time and will follow those directions.

I am not experienced but I do have a question. Is that reading of 27 equal to if I got such a reading on the relion meter?
I mean, I hope not because I would be totally freaking out. I just have to ask :)

Yes. It is a human metre in the US numbers. Not freaking out but close. She is acting very normal. If she wasnt eating, I'd be on my way to emerge!

Excellent job! :bighug: FWIW, I always retest the low numbers just to make sure it wasn't a case of a bad strip or not enough blood or something.

I'll try to keep an eye for you next test - let me tag Bhooma just to get a second set of eyes @Bandit's Mom

I'd also recommend writing what you fed and how much down - most of us keep this in our remarks section - you can see mine (and many others) as an example. It's helpful to know how Mia responds to the carbs.

You could feed a teaspoon or two of LC to help keep her surfing.

She may dip down again after the HC wear off?
Yes but you are spot on testing in 30 minutes. You are still kind of early in the cycle. Sounds like you know what to do to keep Mia safe :bighug:

FF Chicken Gravy
Just for future reference, if this is Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Chicken then it's 15% carbs and considered MC. That's nice she responded to that though and nice data to have! The only Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers that is HC is the Beef flavor (it's 20% per the food chart).

You have more calm about you than I do hahaha
I feel anxiety over your cat having that low of a reading :D
It has been a journey over the last 2 weeks. This is our second low number. I keep my hpyo kit in the room close at hand. I think one thing that helps is that I have taught young kids with diabetes over the years. While I was never responsible for administering insulin, I was helping them to test and monitor BG throughout the day. And you quickly learned- low number = feed and retest.

What a morning. Nice if Mia to earn a dramatic reduction during a day cycle. Congrats!
Agreed. Sleeping in 1 hour increments is not a healthy sleep pattern! :woot:
I am so thankful she finally earned it before I went back to work. I would have been very hesitant with low numbers if I was working.

When do you go back to work?
Monday. I teach about 4 mins from home. I can come home and retest at +3 and +4.5 (and stay for 50 minutes at 4.5). I can be home for the day at +7.5.
In a pinch, I have a retired neighbour who I could teach to test BG and call me.

106 at +5.
Ate one can MC FF at +3.
Ate 1 tablespoon of LC FF at +5. This would normally be a time that I would feed a meal. She's not great at free feeding as she usually eats EVERYTHING I put down.
Reduction to 0.25 Lantus tonight?

Wow, lots of drama this morning! Good catch and congrats on the reduction.:D Whenever I saw a number below 40, I reached for the corn syrup/honey/syrup. Looks like you did a great job with her this morning.

Thanks. I have the honey with my test kit. I can do that in future. She was frantically eating. I think that girl likes her carbs in gravy. :)

108 @ +9.

Meals today:

AMPS- 3/4 can LC FF
+3, 1 can MC FF
+5, 1 tablespoon of LC FF
+7, 1 tablespoon of LC FF (only ate 1/2)
+9, just ate 1/2 can LC FF

ETA: Did you know that you can freeze the top four rows of your spreadsheet in google docs so that as you scroll the title bars remain visible at the top? I am doing an MEd in Educational technology and learned how to do that yesterday! Let me know if it is helpful or distracting
You just select the rows you want to freeze, (Go to View, Freeze, and select up to row 4). If its distracting, I will remove it.
