Johnny seems to be enjoying his day, numbers-wise. Crossing my fingers for a blue PMPS tonight.

Late last night, we noticed that Johnny was limping a little bit. We didn't see him hurt himself, but earlier in the evening, there was a fabulous poo dance celebration choreographed and starring Johnny Cat himself. Up the stairs, down the stairs, jump up on the windowsill, stretch up the wall, MEOW!, jump down, jump onto the table, jump down, up the stairs again, and repeat. It was hilarious. It's defintely possible he strained his left leg somehow during those shenanigans, but we were hoping it would be back to normal today. He's still limping and holding his left paw up when he sits. There is no outward sign of injury and there's no spot that makes him seem uncomfortable to be touching. He actually purrs while he gets it examined. We'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the dose advice! I think we'll stick with the same dose and watch him for a few more cycles at least. It's good to have the option to go up a bit and do more regimented snacking, but I hate to bump him up right now and mess with the shed only to have a short visit to that dose. Johnny is a free range eater, but we'll try to encourage more snacking throughout the day, esp early (+1 or +2) and later (+9 or +10) into the cycle.

Johnny thanks you all for the compliments on his photo last night.

Someone asked how big he is - he's 12 lbs. Long and lanky with a very soft and fluffy belly.

@TessieLou: Good eye in the photo. The answer is not as exciting as it could be...it's not a cat bed within a cat bed. It's a cat bed on top of a cardboard box that is filled with clothes to take to Goodwill. There is a towel over the top of the box to deter kitties from trying to climb inside. So far, so good. I'll have to find a link to the jumping video. It's part of Johnny's OTJ video, but there is a full video of his crazy high jumping.

@CD: I love that you still watch his video! Keep trying...maybe the inspiration will come.

That picture of Johnny totally made my day!!! He is adorable!!!! Love that belly  Thank you for reposting today. Johnny is looking good! You are lucky to have found a decent vet. Hope he recovers and stops limping quickly.

What a great shot of Johnny in his fuzzy pink blankie! And he has some nice looking numbers today, too.

Oh wow... I went back to look at the photo and that is one adorable kitty belly!

I hope it's just that he strained his leg, and good luck with the blue PMPS tonight!

Sienne, we'd love to get the poo dance celebrations on video. We'll try to capture it sometime soon. It's hard to pinpoint, because there is very little warning. Shows are typically in the evening though. We'll have to stake out a few nights and try to capture it!

Back to the yellows for tonight. We'll try and feed to prevent a massive drop tonight. It is beneficial to stop the quick drop, even at the potential risk of him not getting as low? We'd be doing it more in the name of tightening the range?

Johnny is still limping slightly, but when sitting no longer holds that paw up in the air. Seems to be a good sign.

Re: 3/19 Johnny AMPS 171 PMPS 275

Johnny is 137 @ +3. We're glad to see this. He's initiated snacking a couple times on his own tonight, but we're trying to be more aware that snacking can help him from cliff-diving. Oh, and he's still holding up his left paw when sitting and limping. He's relaxing in a fort Brian made him and the test came to him tonight. And we moved his food to the floor, because it's usually on a counter (which he loves). Trying to keep him from jumping too much. Hopefully a little more TLC will do lots of good.

199 @ +4, so going up. He's become increasingly growly tonight. Paw still up in the air when not walking/limping and is now acting like it hurts when we touch just below his 'elbow.' I'm wondering if it could be more than a sprain. Brian says he saw Johnny and Fritz wrassling last night, so it's either that or poo dance (which we would keep off his official chart, lol). Anybody have experience here? Should we take him to an emergency place in the a.m. if not better?

quite some time ago alex did something similar... limping and holding her paw up. it was really difficult to find, but i found a small cut where one of her paw pads attached to the skin. i have no idea how she did it. not saying that's what johnny's limping is all about. just another place to look...
