Happy Hump Day!!

Yesterday

Looks like Cobb broke his mini-bounce. There's a chance he dipped into the blues last night. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well so no tests. Just a gut feeling.

Appetite remains the same: good to ravenous. All 5 P's remain in place, including peeing on one of my carpets. :-x I can't figure out why he goes there. I've carpet cleaned it so many times. I've sprayed multiple products. I don't know what else to do about it. Matt and I are talking about getting it professionally cleaned and then putting a litter box in that room, except that it is our living/piano room. We can hide the litter box on the other side of the sofa, but still...who wants a litter box in their formal living room. First we have to get the smell out...that is proving difficult right now. Any suggestions? I've used Bissell's Pee-Eww, which actually worked pretty well for the short term. I've used Nature's Miracle, which I haven't felt like worked at all. I'd love other suggestions that have worked for some of you! TIA!

Re: 3/19 Cobb AMPS 208

Morning, Suzanne

First, I hope that Cobb gives you a lovely surf in the blues today, and perhaps a nice toe dip in the green, too...? Whadya say, Cobb? Would you do that for your Mama Bean today...? :-D

With regards to the peeing and pooping in areas other than the litter box, you may want to try this link:

Worth a try. I haven't tried these yet, either, but would like to as there are areas in this house that need a really good odor elimination from previous cats. Hope that helps. :-D

Nice start for Cobb. So sorry about the carpet peeing. Tarragon was a sprayer but only on carpet. I tried absolutely everything and just ended up putting down laminate instead. However, we did have lunch with Nature's Miracle and then following it up with Arm & Hammer pet odor remover.

i love typos or autocorrects!! i did a double-take on Melissa having lunch with Nature's Miracle! Life is too short - gotta laugh when you can!

I've had poor luck with trying to get spots out myself. I've tried nature's miracle - it used to work but i think it's been reformulated (into 12 varieties!) my car will no doubt still smell like punkin pee when the weather warms up.

Any way to cover up the spot with furniture? I sympathize on the "box in the living room?" problem. maybe it wouldn't be too long. my cousin told me yesterday (she has a kitten that poops in the bathroom sink!) of course there are worse spots . . . anyway, she said someone had suggested smearing Vicks VapoRub on the sink. It'd sure keep me away! but that makes me wonder, what about sprinkling pepper in the carpet where he wants to go? maybe he'd get a big sniff and leave. i'm not positive that's ok for them, but i've never heard not. i've heard of sprinkling cayenne in flower beds to drive cats out. Seems like worth a try.

As a last resort, if you feel like you have to try putting a litter box there, how about putting it inside a large cardboard box that you've cut an access hole in? At least it could be (hopefully) not accessible to Matty.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I did pick up a bottle of Rug Doctor's urine eliminator today. If nothing else, it masks the smell for when guests are over. :?

The sofa will block the litter box from view. Matt wants to put double doors up, which will ultimately block Matty, but I don't want to lock the smell in there and it saturate the sofa and piano wood - you know? Long term the carpet will be ripped out and hopefully replaced with hardwoods and an area rug. Since Cobb is our only pet and Matt says our last pet (we'll see), we shouldn't have a future problem. I wish I had had hardwoods put down there in the first place because I don't think it would be a problem now. We do think we found the smell we have been looking for for a few months. I think Cobb sprayed the downstairs bathroom so it is in for a good mopping of the laminate. :-x
