Yesterday's Condo

Cinco started out in the same spot this morning as yesterday, but the similarities end there. :( I'm trying not to think that this is the end of the wonderful streak he's been on. I am so afraid that sticking with the 1.0 isn't going to work out. Paws are still crossed, though.

Minka ate a little breakfast before her tummy meds kicked in, but none since. I'm giving her one more chance, and then the Mirtz comes out. I'm not sure if I should try the Mirtz first, or go ahead and start assist feeding.

Sasha did her usual morning thing of only eating a little to start. I'm going to try giving her some Ondansetron first thing and see if that helps. If not, I'll try Amy's method and do Cerenia every other day. I just need to get her eating more, and the sooner she starts in the morning, the more she can eat.

Harvey is still not eating pill pockets, so the cat sack is getting a workout. It just cracks me up how he avoids me like the plague because he's afraid I'm going to grab him and stuff him in it. I have to lure him with food and pounce as he eats! He struggles (half-heartedly) as I'm putting him in, and fights like crazy to keep his mouth shut, but when we're done and I undo the fastenings, he climbs out leisurely and perches on the arm of my chair! I guess he figures I'm done torturing him, so why run?:joyful:

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Doodle (Jennifer F) and Tess (Ann & John). :bighug:Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Lisa's DF, Chris' DM, Marje's DM and Elise's DM.

Hi Tricia, It sure does sound like you have your hands full all of the time!! It's great that you can still get out to do your recreational activities.
Sending scritches and vines to the crew and hugs to you,

Ella & Rusty

Sending eating vines all around. You can never have too many eating vines. Cinco is just opting for the "cool, slow slide" today.

Rut row Cinco!
I always think I am not alone when I read your condo. I have Jack, Scooter and Tater all on meds of all kinds and my days are spent hoping I can catch tater to clean him up and give him his shots and meds. The rest of them of course just have basic needs, lap sits and cuddles food water and clean litter. Anyway if you have tips to cat a feral sick kitty let me know. :D:cat:

Hey, Cinco. Get back where you belong. We're all pulling for the 1.0 to work, Tricia. Now, Cinco, you do some of the lifting, too!

Appy vines like crazy for your girls. And huge:bighug: for your perseverance. All your crew is blessed with just the bestest bean.

Sorry, but I just love Harvey's stinkerness at the pills. My Boomer is now turning away from baby food with pills crushed in, narrow strips of deli ham with the crushed pill lined inside the roll-up. Tonight, we'll try a tuna juice concoction. Hoping the dental helps everything tomorrow.

Marilyn and Polly

I hope Cinco gets back to the lagoon for you soon. Sending appy vines for Sasha and Minka. Harvey is so funny. Why is it that the cat that needs the pill doesn't like pill pockets, but the other cats will eat them? At least that what it's like in my house.

Come on now Cinco!! You were doing so good!

China is going to be spending more time in the lagoon soon...she sure hopes you'll be there to play!

Hope the girls finally ate for you today so you didn't have to resort to other measures

And Harvey?? What's there to say about Harvey?? He's....well....he's Harvey!!....LOL

You sure do have your hands full with your crew! Hoping the 1.0 works!
Ondansetron has really helped Simon with his appetite and nausea. He gets it twice a day (1/4 pill) and when I tried to decrease it to once a day, he started having problems again. He now takes cerenia every other day, along with the ondansetron and I think that is the magic combination. Hoping Sasha and Minka feel better soon.

Thanks for stopping by, Ella, Ann, Linda, Marilyn, Carla, Chris and Georgia.

Looks like I have a very flat blue kitty on my hands. Just what does that mean for tonight???? Stay tuned......

@Linda and Scooter & Jack, it is a real juggling act having so many kitties that have special needs. I feel like I don't have time to do anything else any more. If I didn't have Dawn and Kathy to watch the kitties so we can get away once in a while, I think I'd lose my mind. I don't have any brilliant suggestions for your sick feral other than a humane trap. I think most shelters will lend you one. Good luck with that.

@pollydoodle I hope you have luck with your latest pill sneaking attempt. Harvey doesn't fall for any of those. I just wish he'd go back to liking the pill pockets. I know he will, eventually. Until then, we have our twice daily wrasslin' matches!

@carfurby, right now no one in my house likes pill pockets (Cinco probably does, but he can't have them, so too bad). I wish another company made some, so we could see if a different flavor would work, but it appears that there is only the one choice of brand.

@Chris & China, I'm hoping that flat blue today means a swim tonight (anti-jinx). I'll tell Cinco he mustn't stand China up! I did give Minka some Mirtz, and some cerenia, and it didn't seem to help. I really think her problem is not nausea, but that nothing smells/tastes good. I syringed about 11cc of food in two sittings this afternoon. She was so sweet - she purred the whole time. She didn't really resist me, except for the normal resistance to having her mouth opened. She didn't spit anything out, so I guess I got it all in her. She ate some tri tip about a half hour later (no problem there) and was nibbling on leftover cat food as I was fixing their dinner. She didn't like hers and went to Harvey's plate (the exact same stuff) and ate three or four bites, then walked away. Harvey was not thrilled with tonight's selection, so I opened another can and he cleaned his plate, but Minka didn't like that one, either. I know she wants to eat - she keeps coming in and standing by the plates of food and looking at them, but she's not eating any. No lip smacking, etc. I guess I'll syringe some more tonight. I wish she could tell me what she wants - I'd sure fix it for her!!

Our sick feral is inside in the kitchen at the moment! He just runs if we try to get near him since he thinks all I want to do is give him meds. His name is Tater and he is a manx Bengal cross. Cute as a button but wild.

Looks like I will be up late with Jack so shoot me a line if you are up with Cinco.

@Linda and Scooter & Jack, the way I usually get hold of Harvey is to put food down for him. He's getting wise and sometimes won't approach the dish if I'm lurking nearby, but if I wait until he's eating I can usually sneak up on him and grab him! I hate doing that, but he's gotta have his meds. Have you tried just petting him and loving on him several times a day (if you catch him), so he doesn't think all you do is pill him? I make a point of loving on Harvey before and after I pill him, as well as various times during the day, so he doesn't just associate me with something unpleasant.

Shoot, you have enough cats, I don't know why I think I can tell you anything you don't know! I hope Jack behaves tonight so you can get some sleep!

Aw Tricia I value your experience!! I think if he was more domesticated in his first year it would have made a difference but he was left in a room with a female to mate and they just fed him. He couldn't mate because he was so ill so I will spare you the details and say we rescued him and then straight to the vet. He hides a lot when I am around because I am the med giver and one of his is the b12 shot in the butt! He hates it. lol

Poor little guy. He's lucky he ended up with you, Linda! My DH had the same problem with my GA civvie, Kisa. He ran from Mark, because Mark was the one that trimmed his nails and held him down so I could get the mats out of his fur! Toward the end of Kisa's life, he was less afraid of Mark and even would get up on the bed and nibble on Mark's fingers to get his attention!

I thought I heard a slight hint of an increase in the first post. Sounds like Cinco read between the lines too. :D

Gosh, @Wendy&Neko, I honestly hadn't started thinking dosecrease yet, but whatever! I LOVE this surf he's got going!

Glad he listened to his LL Aunties!
