I just don't understand why Racci is still getting pinks. She had blues & one yellow yesterday & she seems to feel well. Maybe she has something brewing or the infection is still hanging around? She ate a lot last night but not just before the test so it shouldn't really have affected it several hours ahead of time.

I got her to eat something new, NV Duck mixed in with the wellness fish and she also ate some homemade country style ribs boiled, au jus and loved it so that's two new things that aren't fish! She's pooping and hasn't had an more dry DM except the few treats when testing which never affect her much. Maybe I should start that antibiotic?

Your cat had only 3 pinks in 7 days, which is not too bad, and has had decent numbers...
I wouldnt give ab's to my cat unless an infection was fully showing...They do have side effects as you know..
Just keep doing what you are doing--The way to wean a cat off dry is to mix some wet into the dry food, and each day add more & More till little dry food left.
Looks like Racci had some nice numbers yesterday & this is just a bounce--Patience is what we all need!

Thanks Roni,

She's well past the stage of mixing the dry with the wet. She now eats the wet alone and only gets the dry as treats when I test, a few teeny pieces, thank goodness. That battle is finished. My new battle with her is finding what she likes other than fish in canned food. :)

The reason I thought of the AB is because she is just getting over a bad infection & I wonder if maybe she needed longer on them. I admit my patience is not my long suit tho. ;-) When I go clean her up I'll see how it looks I guess.

Racci seems to be on a roller coaster. I fell asleep for a nap and she woke me up hungry again and for her test and she had gone all the way from 352 to 40! She did have an extra low cal lunch snack but that was her 4th meal of the day! She had beef au jus with DH about +3.5 and loved it. She's starting to eat all kinds of things now! She's making me grayer than I am with these roller coaster rides though. :lol: I'm glad she got rid of the pink at least.

She's nice and content now, sprawled out in the middle of the lr rug under the ceiling fan and every once in a while gives a good stretch and yawn. @-)

Good job catching that 40! Don't panic too much as long as she doesn't drop more. She is keeping you on your toes :smile:

Omg! You wanted down from pink, she delivered! Um, Racci, no more diving competitions! You win, okay?

Hope she's on her surfboard now! I can imagine how :dizcat you must feel!

Did you feed that 40? If it has been at least 20 minutes, please get another test and see which way she's heading now. Nice catch!

Yes, She certainly did get off that pink, didn't she? Diving is right!

I'm so glad she knows to get me to feed her! I fell asleep in front of the tv at her +6!!

I fed her a little Dm & her meal and she was nice and content. I'm about to test again now. I'll post in a few minutes with the new test. I didn't have the heart to bother her. She was so comfy and clearly ok. She ate a big meal and then stretched out in the middle of the living room rug under the fan, stretching and very content. She's up now tho so I'm going to test again. BRB. I'm hoping to also get a ketone test.

I just tested again when I gave her miralax and she's 123 at +9.5 so now I'm hoping she doesn't do her roller coaster again. I guess all that food and the DM did the trick. She was not happy about being bothered again. Wait till she finds out I'll have to do it tonight too. :twisted:

She woke me early this morning to feed her but I couldn't move well enough to get a test. I had only slept 2 hours and was out of it. I just fed her, saw her eat and lie down cleaning herself & went btb. I'll have to try again this coming morning.

My guess is that Racci is going to bounce if she went from 40 to 123 in a couple of hours. OTOH, she may surprise you. You may want to take a look at this post on managing low numbers. We encourage testing a bit more often with numbers in the 40s.

hi melanie! wow you had an exciting day. racci wants to make sure you don't break out the AB, apparently!

re your comment about the glucose toxicity/fd post - i bump it up every so often and it's starred so people will notice it. you may have seen that i bumped up a handful of informational posts. the idea is that if they pop up like that people will see them and they won't become wallpaper.

I did find it very helpful, Julie. I didn't get to read all the links yet and want to so need to copy the link still. As usual it was a hectic day and I never made it back to do it. In fact I need to find it for a friend who wants to see it and couldn't find it. :smile:

Sienne, I would like to test more often too but Racci has only one ear that really works well and it gets sore. I keep trying the other anyway and it's getting better but Racci is old and she's getting cranky with me and I don't want to ruin a good thing. Right now she's really easy to test and always has been but I can tell she's sore because she's starting to try to protect the ear and one thing about Racci is that she always lets me know when she doesn't feel well. Ordinarily I would have tested her again closer to the time of that 40 but between the soreness and her so obviously feeling well before, I didn't think it necessary. If you had seen her you would know what I mean. She looked like life just couldn't treat her any better. :lol: I have a feeling she will bounce also tomorrow. Thanks for the link. I've read it before but did want to look at it again.

Btw, her PMPS is 254 but she wouldn't eat her dinner! So I'm going to have to offer dinner again now and not go to bed until she eats or she will definitely have a problem tonight. I might have to toss this and get some pure fish in her dish to get her to eat.

I'm going to update, then try to get my little princess to eat. She's sound asleep so it probably won't work till bedtime tho, when she gets up to follow me to bed. I really don't want her to wait much longer though.

I was able to get Racci's +6.5 this morning and it was in the blue, 158. I'm hoping she's not going to rebound and go up too much by her amps. fed her breakfast after that test and went btb. I hope she's not goig to reound by amps and be in the pink again.. will post on her ps.
