Hello!

Previous condo

Well his AMPS is higher this morning, but I'm not too surprised. At least it's been hovering in the 200s for a bit. Cain's been a bit more active this morning after I got him in the carrier. He was happy to not move too much in his towel nest but he wanted to complain a bit about being in a carrier again. And he reacted to the more painful shots they have to give him which is the first time in this whole mess he's done that. He's urinated a few times yesterday and at least one or two more times before I took him in at 8:30am. Once while I put him on my lap to feed him. I guess I kneed his bladder a little. I'm just glad I had towels nearby and he missed my leg. Urine is still a good yellow and not the scary dark yellow it was on Sunday.

Cain got another round of shots (cerenia, famotidine, ampicillain) and he's back on the same IV mix as yesterday. He also got some glycerin DSS (that's what he called it) anally to help him poop. He hasn't in a while and the vet was worried. By noon they had fed him once and are keeping track on the board they use to when they need to feed him next. He's getting 20-25ml every three hours now. He's urinated a few times and even had a small bowel movement. While I was changing the bandage for his feeding tube, the staff drew blood to re-run the labs to see the new values. I'll get a copy of them as soon as they come in, which should be tomorrow I believe.

I did give a print out of this http://www.idexx.com/pubwebresources/pd ... itions.pdf from the Pancreatitis group this morning, and when I dropped by for bandage change, insulin, pets and whatnot, I got two scripts: one for ondansetron and the other for lactulose. I need to see what the prices are for that in town. I can go to Costco, however it will take a bit to drive there and I don't know how long it will take them to fill it. I just need to schedule time around it if Costco is the best prices.

I had to take a nap after I dropped him off this morning. Feeling a bit better though I started coughing a bit in my sleep. I hope it's just allergies. I've taken a pill for that. And I treated myself to a nice soup for lunch. Mainly cause I forgot to eat breakfast.

Now to wash some towels! I need to redo Cain's towel nest. I need to look into pee pads looks like.

Re: 3/18 Cain AMPS 397 Finally got script

Hi Jennifer,
This all sounds so promising. We are keeping those healing super-vines coming to Cain. Good luck with getting the prescriptions filled at reasonable prices nearby.

Take care of yourself, too. I'm glad you got to get some sleep and some good food.

You are doing a phenomenal job. Cain is one lucky kitty to have you for his mamabean and his advocate.

Re: 3/18 Cain AMPS 397 Finally got script

Hi Jennifer!!

What a good report on Cain! So happy to hear he seems to be a little perkier and the urine is yellow and not that awful orange!

So great you finally got the prescriptions too! Hopefully they'll help him to feel even better!

Keep up the great work, and don't forget to take care of yourself too!

Re: 3/18 Cain AMPS 397 Finally got script

Hi Jennifer,
What an encouraging report on Cain! Continued healing vines for your boy~ You are doing a great job in such a difficult situation. Sending stay well vines to you!!

Re: 3/18 Cain AMPS 397 Finally got script

Yellow pee and scripts...it sounds like things are moving forward, slowly but surely. Still sending tons of prayers and healing vines!

Re: 3/18 Cain AMPS 397 Finally got script

This is all wonderful and encouraging news and I hope he continues to do well. The baytril is an a/b usually used for kidney infections. It's a pretty strong a/b. The fluids they are giving him are probably lactated ringers and if they are, it doesn't have dextrose in it. It does have potassium.
We're sending healing vines to help him continue to recover.

For our members, if you would like information on how to help with Cain's vet bills, please visit LLEF on FB or you can also PM LLEF or me.

Re: 3/18 Cain AMPS 397 Finally got script

I only have one thing to say: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to all of the above.

OK, 2 things: I'm so glad he's getting what he needs & he's doing so much better (yeah, OK, that was 3!)

Re: 3/18 Cain PMPS 393

Hello!

PMPS 393

I kinda forgot that Cain can't eat for his PS's but he also does really need to eat and since his numbers are high enough, I'm going with feeding him when he needs to eat on schedule instead of worrying too much about his PS numbers being food induced. Though his AM +11 was just before a feeding so that's probably closest to a true number without food.

Thank you Julie, Rhiannon, Desi, Marje, Amy, Cleo, Chris, Ella, and Anne for visiting today. :D Thanks for the well wishes and healing vines and cheering.

Anne, I will look into those. Thanks!

I looked around at two pharmacies to see what the ondansetron will cost, and so far I got quotes of $60 and $73 dollars. Walmart was the $60 one. I need to call up Costco and the rest of the pharmacies around here and see what the prices are. Lactulose is on the $4 list for two pharmacies. :) If nothing in this area is decent, I'll use the Thriving Pets website y'all linked. I'll just have to fax them the prescription I'm guessing.

I swear, every time I think the insulin isn't working as well as it used to, he drops down into better numbers. *shrug*

Julie, yeah that ondansetron should be here tomorrow or Thursday latest I'm sure.

I just picked up a refill from the one I sent you .... at Smith's / Kroger's for $29 ... 10 pills.... 8 mg.

I' didn't know they came in 4 mg until Dyana said so I will get that for my next bottle.... easier to quarter ...

Hope you get that package today.

Re: 3/18 Cain PMPS 393 +2.32 268 +8 255 New labs

+8 255

I added the new labs. Not great news this morning. He's anemic and treading water at this point. The good news is that his kidneys are still working.

Cain tried to get to the litter box this morning but his back legs do not support him anymore. Not in the last three days. He was quieter in the carrier this morning and didn't move as much as yesterday when the morning round of shots was given. Drooling more this morning but he wasn't last night. Not sure if his food was causing that this morning.

I gave him nearly 30ml of food this morning. This is the most I can give him according to the paper I got until I think Day 6.

Rhiannon, your Kroger is nicer on the price. Mine was quoting $73 for the prescription. I'm keeping an eye out for the mail.

In the meantime, I need to nap a bit.

Thinking of you both all day.

Cain Needs **FLORADIX** Right Now

Hi Jennifer,

Although I said I would no longer comment on Cain's condo I am still very sad about all of this...

The reason that I yelled in my last post to you was because I still do not believe you recognize the urgency of action that is required to help Cain live. If a child puts his hand over an open flame we do not politely say, "Please remove your hand." No, instead we slap the hand away and say, "Don't do that! You will burn yourself!"

This latest development with Cain having anemia and his incredible weakness is quiet frightening. You've got to act quickly on this. I had a cat last month that died within 7 hours of being diagnosed with anemia that had been given fluids. Once his severe anemia was diagnosed, he never should have had sub-qs until the anemia was treated and began to resolve.

Cain should have a GREATLY reduced amount of sub-qs, or none at all, until you have successfully treated him for the anemia. If his anemia is very bad, and it sounds like it is, continuing sub-qs without treating him successfully for the anemia can kill him very quickly.

The sub-qs dilute Cain's blood, and then the red blood cells cannot carry enough oxygen to Cain's lungs. What happens is that the cat begins to take huge gasps of air because they cannot get enough oxygen into their lungs, they suffocate to death.

Is your vet still giving Cain a vitamin B-12 shot every time he administers the sub-qs? Did he only give the one vitamin B-12 shot?

Another cause of anemia is a lack of vitamin B-12. You also mentioned that Cain can no longer stand on his back legs at all. That's also a sign of a lack of vitamin B-12. BTW, another cause of nauseousness is ANEMIA.

It is very obvious to me that Cain has pernicious anemia. Did you know that vitamin B-12 shots last but a mere moment in the body of a cat or a human? Our bodies immediately pee out any excess vitamin B-12. With the amount of fluids that Cain has been receiving to flush out the toxins, he is probably peeing a lot of the vitamin B-12 out of his system. I would have the vet reduce Cain's amount of sub-qs, and ask them if they believe he still needs them. You said his pee was a normal color again, right?

You really need to start adding vitamin B-12 to the food that you are feeding him.

Cain needs to be on daily doses of both of Zobaline and Floradix, like right now!! They both need to be mixed into his food to help him recover from his anemia and his leg weakness.

The Floradix is an over-the-counter iron supplement that one of my vets had me feed to my cat Daphne in her food when she became extremely anemic. It worked immediately-- OVERNIGHT Daphne's red blood cell count went up, and it continued to go up. I did not take her off of the Floradix until she was producing all of her own red blood cells again. Daphne had been to the point of near death. I still have Daphne today.

A 4 pound can take 1/8 tsp per day. It DOES NOT cause any constipation at all!!! Cain should get at least 1/8 tsp, 2x a day in his food because he weighs more than 8 pounds.

You should do some research on the internet to see who carries the Floradix locally where you live. The Vitamin Shoppe carries it. Many times pharmacies will carry it. You just ask the pharmacist if they have it. MOST grocery stores with a large alternative health section will carry Floradix there. I cannot stress to you enough how important it is that you get this Floradix into Cain's body, ASAP. You do not need a prescription in any state to purchase it.

Many blessings to both you and Cain, Tina
