Well, not really shocking to see this high number this AMPS. With the high carb food I gave him last night.

Perhaps I shouldve just given him his regular food but I get scared when the numbers get low. Plus I was worried about being up ALL night when I have to work this morning.

We forge ahead as usual.

Good morning guys ... ouch on the high red .. hopefully 4 clears this number soon .. I know it's scary seeing those low numbers and how it's hard to be up all night and then try and function at work the next day ... hope you guys have a great weekend!

Sorry about the ugly red number this morning, but I doubt that feeding the HC food has anything to do with it. You did fine feeding the HC, especially since you needed to sleep...better to boost him up than have him drop lower while you were sleeping. We all overdo the HC in the beginning, it's ok! It allowed you to see how he reacts to HC food...good data, now you know how he will react.

I suspect 4 is bouncing from that lovely 68 last night. His body isn't used to those nice low numbers, his liver is seeing that 68 as too low (even though it wasn't) and panicking, basically dumping sugar and hormones to "protect" him from hypo. It's a very normal reaction, part of the sugar dance. The bounce will clear on its own, bounces can last up to 72 hours. Over time, as he gets used to the lower numbers, hopefully his liver will stop overreacting to normal numbers. You're doing fine!
 
I had no idea about the liver reacting to the low numbers. thanks for the info! You guys really ARE a fountain of info and support. Gotta love it!
