Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9314

Morning, LL!

Overslept, so am already behind...Eeyore is fine. A bit high, and had an accidental pee on the bathroom floor, but that's to be expected with unregulated diabetes...a bit high this morning, so am thinking about bringing up his dose tonight. Opinions gladly accepted!!

And can someone let me know if Eeyore's ss is viewable?

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Best-
Michele

Yes, I can see Eeyore's SS now. :-)

I'm still way too new at this to say anything about a dose increase...but I'm considering one for Max as well. I just want to wait and try to get a full curve in on Saturday before I do it.

Eeyore's SS is loud and clear!! Sorry, we're too inexperienced to offer dosing advice. Stu is looking forward to seeing Eeyore and Esse at the party.

I know you're impatient. However, you generally wait at least 5 days to build the shed. It's been 3 days. Can we give Eeyore a little more time for his shed to develop and the initial dose to settle? I realize that numbers look high but you're also not home during the day to know how much he may be dropping during the middle of the cycle.

Yay -- we have a viewable SS!!!!

Re: 3/17 Eeyore PMPS+11=427 AMPS=426

Oh, and following Sienne's note--it took my Max a full 7 days to show anything on the Lantus. He was bouncing around all over the place in the first week, with some REALLY high numbers, but then it was like something clicked and he started settling. I'm thinking he'll be getting an increase this weekend, but want to see more daytime numbers first on Saturday. Last weekend was wonky all the way around at our house, so I don't know how much I want to trust the numbers from then.

Re: 3/17 Eeyore PMPS+11=427 AMPS=426

Eeyore is at 474 tonight...not sure if this is a bounce from unaccustomed "low" numbers, or if we're just cycling. I'm trying very hard to wait, but really want to take him up tomorrow. He was on insulin (sometimes) before, but it was vetsulin, so I don't know what kind of difference that makes. Just worried about him, you know? He's got all the s/s of clinical DM...especially the hunger. He ate three bowls of dinner...he's got to be starving, with all that sugar in his bloodstream and none of it available for energy...that's the biggest concern I've got, you know? Sigh. I've got plenty of food, that's not the issue; I'm just thinking poor Eeyore is starving, even with all the good food available to him. (Did catch a ketone test, negative...thank God).

Anyway, glad you guys can see the ss now! He's a good boy, he really is. Is getting better about poking and shots, and is just a dear one...just a sweet, dear soul. And he doesn't even blink when Malachi sticks his nose up Eeyore's bum...and Malachi is inviting him to play now, too...tapping Eeyore's legs and then running off. Malachi is a crazy, goofy boy, and to see him ask if Eeyore wants to play...well, that just warms my heart.

Hope everyone has a great night...I'm utterly exhausted from the hospital floor today - a patient did his absolute best to have a heart attack, right at shift change; another staff emergency happened; and I was charge nurse today to 5 fellow 4th semester students and 10 first semester students...just hectic from the moment I got there. LOLsigh.

Best-
Michele

I'll give the same answer in a slightly different format. No dose increases without at least one nadir check (preferably at least two, so we can rule out rebound). Ok?

Do you know what his vetsulin dose was? How long was he on vetsulin?

And it can make a difference that he was on a different insulin. It seems like Vetsulin and PZI cats do a lot more bouncing than those who are started on Lantus right away. Jojo says it's because their bodies are trained to bounce.

We need those handcuffs!
