Well, I doubt if Mr. Darcy will want to wear green for St. Patrick's Day today. We will see what color(s) he chooses for the day. I hope that I am spotting a slightly downward trend in his AMPS? I don't like to put my hopes too much on anything because it seems like every time I do... well... you know what happens.

I'm about to order my Levemir from Marks. It was very funny when they called me wanting to know how tall Darcy is! Then they asked ME how tall I am and how much I weigh and if I smoke! I said no, and Darcy does not smoke either (nor vape, or drink alcohol or use recreational drugs!) Good thing they don't want a copy of Darcy's driver's license. Hopefully mine will suffice. They asked me to email them a photo of it.

But seriously, do you think it will be okay if I don't pay for the "extra ice packs" and the styrofoam box? The shipping is already $25 and this would be an extra $15. It's not really hot here right now. I know that people carry the insulin pens around with them so they are designed to be carried by diabetics at least at room temperature. Hopefully it will be okay without the extras?

For 2 years I never paid anything extra from Marks. It comes with ice packs to begin with. Marks does pay attention to destination temps and will not ship if it's questionable.

For my area I refilled my order in March/April and in November. It missed the summer heat and the winter freeze. I tracked the order, opted out of signature and made sure one of us was home.

Thanks, Paula. I just don't think three pens will last Darcy long! It gets very hot here and it last a long time. The real heat will start in May and last through October, with varying degrees of heat, but always pretty hot.
 
I didn't pay extra - ordered Mar 5, shipped Mar 10, arrived Mar 16 in a silver bubble envelope with chill pack, inside a box. It was still cool.

In amusing cat Rx tales - I was afraid I would run out before Mark's delivery arrived, so ordered an extra pen from Walgreen's. When I picked it up, the pharmacist asked me if she had any medical conditions. I said yes, she's diabetic! I realize they have to ask these questions but sometimes it just seems silly.

ETA - Oh myyyy I just saw in another post you have another cat called Bingley. How many cats do you have and what are all their names? I LOVE this. I hope there's a Bennett? Lydia?

I don't think you need to pay extra if you get now. If you can order enough to last into November that would be good. If not and you have to get some shipped over the summer, then just pay extra for them.

Look in supply closet here, and maybe post question if anyone has extra. I looked in different groups. Was able to purchase quite a bit, some only charged cost of shipping.

Oh wait.... here’s something upsetting me besides Ginger’s vet visit today. Darcy is walking very stiffly tonight. What should I do? Call the vet to ask about Adequan? Add fish oils? Other anti-inflammatories? Can cats take things like curcumin (I take it and it’s a great anti-inflammatory)? I’ve never looked into this before. But it’s upsetting to see him like that - walking so stiffly on his front legs.

Neuropathy? How are his B12 levels? Methylcobalamin in the form of capsules can be added to Darcy's food and you can get them quickly from Vitacost. I hear it helps. Otherwise I think you can get Xobaline from a vet. :bighug:
 
Arthritis is common in acros, from bony growth. I started with fish oil and glucosamine and MSM, but after a while it wasn’t enough. Added Cartrophen, our version of Adequan, also tried hyaluronic acid (Hyaflex) and Duralactin. Acupuncture also helped and I did daily acupressure. I have heard of some people using golden paste.

Wow. That's a lot. I don't know much about accupuncture in animals around here. And I'm not familiar with how to do accupressure in a cat. I think I should start something for him though ... as a beginning.

Thanks, Paul. I'm going to check this out. I do take fairly high doses of turmeric for myself. I think I need to add in some other things for Darcy and will try to find out about the golden paste. Appreciate you!
