Yesterday...

1st cycle on 9 units.

The PM +8 was higher than the PMPS again, which supports the theory that the Lantus is peaking earlier in the cycle now, though I can't be certain from just 2 readings. Having a +8 nadir all this time was very convenient, since that's the only time I can check his BG on the PM cycle after the +4, unless I skip 4 hours of sleep.

His daytime cycles are looking better and better while his PM cycles look terrible. It used to be the other way around. I'm still not sure if he's bouncing. If I keep giving the same dose range of R, will he ultimately get used to yellows, or should I back off to see if it settles? @Sandy and Black Kitty suggested going 2 cycles without it to assess the Lantus on its own, and I think I'm going to do that tomorrow morning, if the AMPS isn't too high. (If it's over 450, I might give half the dose I'd normally give.)

Hi there

Some random thoughts...
Does Chino eat during the overnight cycle?
Do you go btb after the PM+8 test?
I wonder if giving a TOR at PM+8 might be worth exploring?

He eats when I give the Lantus and 4 hours later on both cycles.

I do go back to bed after the +8 check. I take medication for narcolepsy twice each night so I can stay awake during the day. It's prescription GHB and each dose takes 3-5 hours to wear off so I take it at +4 and +8. Occasionally I can stay up for a +5 and still take both doses, but when I do that, I'm more likely to sleep through my alarm or fall asleep again while trying to remember why it went off.

What's a TOR?

This is horrible. I'm really worried about him. The last 2 red PMPS values had clear reasons.. one came after a partial fur shot, and the other came after the first daytime yellow in 2 weeks. There was no fur shot or lower-than-usual BG this morning. Unless it's a bounce from yesterday's drop (443 AMPS to 249 +4), I don't know why his AM and PM BGs are worse than before when he's just had several dose increases.

If his BG is above 400 tomorrow morning, I'm going to give just 0.75 units of R. It will be the 4th cycle after yesterday's daytime yellow. If he doesn't appear to be coming down from a bounce by the end of the 6th cycle (which will be the 5th cycle on 9 units) then I'll go back to dosing R with the same goal of getting his BG under 300 when it's time to increase the Lantus.

New dose wonkiness is probably the culprit today.

Speaking of next increases, when it's time to increase the Lantus, you might want to consider going up by a full 1 unit amount. Typically we wait until they get to a total dose of 10 units, but you won't be far off. And it's time to see if you can take it to the resistance.
