My sweet Amelia was diagnosed a year ago with a 389 BG and was put on Lantus 2 units twice a day. After 6 days I found her in hypoglycemia to the point of needing to rush her to ER vet at 5am. She went into remission after that and stayed there for the last year. She is showing signs of coming out of remission and I have ordered fresh supplies to do some home blood/urine testing before I make vet appointment for Lantus Rx. I know Lantus is the best insulin for her system and gives the best chance to go back into remission…my question is…what dose should we start with? I don’t want to repeat what happened last year.

Sorry to hear your kitty is out of remission. It is good that you are going to start blood glucose testing. That is the best way to keep your cat safe. For information on the dosing methods and starting dose used here, you can check out this link.

If you want to get a spreadsheet started and set up a signature to your profile. It will, be helpful to those who can give you advice. More information on that can be found here.
