OK, So I made the leap and got a Relion Meter. I'm still wading through how to interpret the differences and for now, because I am blessed with a great patient, I will do the next few tests with both meters and listen carefully to the advice. Later on, after Sundown today she became very interested in the water bowl, so I guess I should not hve bragged about that!

Ok so I'm making the switch but the thing is that the ReliOn first gave me an e-7 saying I had moved the strip (What the heck!), then it gave me a number almost in line with the alpha track 458 vs 462, then it gave me a lower reading which I posted 392.....

Good luck with the new meter. The difference between the AlphaTrak and the Relion is greater in higher numbers, but they will get closer as you get towards normal numbers. I made a meter switch early on in our time here, and did a few double tests like you are doing, but eventually found it easier for me to just to stick with the one meter.

The dreaded E-7 - not enough blood on the strip. The 458 and 462 are well within meter variance (20%), and so is that 392.
