Good Morning everyone! I thought I'd give you all an update on Barbara's Band of Critters, and how all are doing since her passing.

Tuffy is thriving, and doing very well. Her placement with Nada has been a very good one. They report her BG's are stable, and they are slowly working on dose reduction, something Barbara was also in the process of doing. Tuffy is happy, content, and from what I can tell, knows that Barbara is with her, always. She's doing well where she is. I think it is wonderful that she's reported as steady, consistent. Sometimes it just isn't all about being green, but more about the whole picture, which in this case is steady, happy, content, and just being Tuffy. The greens, and maybe even a return to her OTJ status, will be whenever it was meant to be. For now - things are looking really good. Three of Barbara's other cats are still being fostered by Nada. I think is great, that she was willing to take them in too. They are together once again, and adjusting to the changes that they face. Eventually Nada hopes to find them furever homes, but for now they will stay with her and Dave. All is well! I am not sure when, and if, they will post here on Tuffy. The live in an area with very limited internet access. She has to travel to an internet type cafe in order to get online.

Khoko is doing well too. Khoko is being taken to Missy on Sunday and he will be heading to his new home in NJ next week. Missy is a long time horse friend on Barbara's, well known in her field. This is great to read that Khoko will spend some time with her, excellent in fact. The placement in NJ is really an outstanding one. The lady there raises, breeds, cares for horses etc. Khoko will have lots of company, lots of wide open pastures. This lady too is a good friend of Barbara's. I can remember Barbara saying that she was so so elated when her friend told her that in the event it was needed Khoko was, without a doubt, coming to live with her. What a wonderful place for him to spend the rest of his life.

On a sad note Tang crossed to The Rainbow Bridge join Barbara, Wednesday 3/15. Tang was such a gentle soul... Barbara knew he as "off" a few days before she went to the hospital for the surgery, but was improving the morning she went in. So she tried not too worry. Her friend that was caring for them noted that he had gotten worse the day Barbara passed. Her son's family took him in anyways, but by Wednesday Tang had stopped eating. The vets examination revealed a WBC of 180, possible cancer, maybe just an internal blockage, they just weren't too sure, without alot of further testing. He felt that Tang has probably been sick for a while, and hid his illness well. The family in VA, and the granddaughter who adopted him, decided with much sadness to let him go, rather than have him endure further testing or suffering. He had already been through so much. Fly free Tang, there are many who will truly miss you.

I have continued to receive signs from Barbara, most are those white down feathers... I went on a hike a few days ago, on a very windy sunny day. I was on this trail, came to a fallen log blocking the trail, and there on top of that log was the most pristine white down feather. Just sitting there, not moving at all, amongst all that wind. I knew it was from Barbara. Friday morning I was in the kitchen cleaning up after the boys, and heard these very soft meows. Well I knew It wasn't my three, as they were sound asleep within view. Knew it wasn't a stray, as I looked. That too was Barbara. How appropriate to send a kitty's meows. They are comforting, these signs. I just wanted to share a few of them. She's up there, watching over all of us, doing OK too!

Take care LL! Barbara sends her best wishes to all of us.

Re: 3/15 Tuffy, Khoko and Tang - an update

Thank you for the update Michelle. I too continue to get signs from Barbara. She has been watching over me & Tawny, when I was syringe feeding Tawny a feather would sometimes float down out of seemingly nowhere and land next to us, I'm sure they are signs from Barbara. Today is the day I am going to find a special place to keep all the feathers, maybe in some kind of shadow box.

I am so glad the critters are adjusting and Khoko will soon be in his new home.

I sure do miss her tho.

I have to share something in this thread that's really neat. I did not know Barbara even online - read her posts but never knew her. You all keep talking about the white down feathers...for the last week, I couldn't count the number of white down feathers that have come floating down around me...in my yard, even INSIDE the neighbor's greenhouse. THAT one really got me noticing...the door is NEVER open, there are no holes - I sealed it before winter....yet right there on top of my water jugs was a beautiful white feather. They're so prolific that I commented to my neighbor about all of them.

They're comforting...

Thank you, Michelle, for this update on Barbara's family. i am so glad that Tuffy and the other kitties are doing well and that Khoko will soon be in his new home. Tang is flying free, with Barbara.
The feathers are wonderful. Barbara, we love you. Thank you for watching over us.

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

Thank you for the update, Michelle.

In case people hadn't seen the post, Nada opened a condo for Tuffy on Health a few days ago.

Barbara was clearly surrounded by people whose hearts were as big as hers. It seems only fitting that people have stepped up to care for her 4-legged family knowing how much they meant to her.

Barb -- I miss you. Keep a close eye on all of our Guardian Angels who are with you at the Bridge.

ETA: Shortly after I posted this, Gizmo sauntered by. He had a small white feather hanging onto his tail.

Thank you for the update...I am sure all of Barbara's beloved furbabies feel her love. And I love that you are still finding feathers...so beautiful

Oh Michelle, thank you for this update. I am so sorry to read of Tang's passing, but am sure Tang and Barbara had a wonderful reunion at the Bridge. I feel a little better knowing one of Barb's furkids is with her now. I am so happy to read Tuffy is doing well, thank you Sienne for the link to a Tuffy condo. I remember Barb speaking of Missy often. Barb and I corresponded about horses and equestrian in the Paralympics and that is how I remember Missy. Khoko will be in such good hands until home.
