Tiki had an exciting day today. A bird got stuck in the air vent in my bathroom and was buzzing around in there for most of the day. No maintenance on Sunday's so there wasn't much that could be done. Tiki woke me up this morning mrowling from on top of the sink gazing up at the ceiling. Mom, Mom, something's in there!!! Poor little fella kicked the dust that must have been in there for years all over my bathroom. I shined a flash light in there and could see it's feet and tail feathers (thank God it was a BIRD and not something awful). So by just before sun down I got worried about the little guy stuck in there. What if he starves? Poops all over? Damages the vent? I have no idea how long it takes a bird to go hungry so I got out a ladder and tugged at the vent guard to see if I could get it off. Not really, but I got it lower than flush to the ceiling. Then I shut the door and hoped he came out. Soon enough we could hear him flying around in the bathroom. So then I prayed. I opened the door and tried to guide him out the slider. Does he just fly around, oh heck NO. He flew right onto the floor and Tiki nailed him. What a good little birder I have. ESPECIALLY for being an inside cat!!! He only flew in little bits and thankfully went out onto the balcony where Tiki proceeded to harass him some more. We finally got him to fly off the balcony. Now I am just hoping he doesn't end up right back in the same spot he got stuck in in the first place. So far so good.

So now that the bird is gone Tiki hasn't left the doorway and hasn't stopped staring into the bathroom. He's like a bird dog on point! LOL

He once surprised me years ago by getting mouse too. I was so disappointed in myself that day. I was a total GIRL. I jumped right up on a chair and shrieked!!! Scared the heck out of Tiki so he let it go and it ran off. Never saw that mouse again. I think I heard him yelling THANK YOU as he ran off too!!!

Wow, you have a hunter, Tonya!
I bet Tiki thought it was his lucky day! ;-)

I hope Tiki shows you some blues again tonight :-D
Enjoy your evening!

when you said that Tiki nailed it - i thought he killed it! *whew* i'm a bird-lover too and was afraid that this story was going to have a bad ending. i'm glad little birdie escaped. what a quiet sunday at your place!

LOL! That's a great story all around. We found a bunch of feathers in the yard after work the other day. I'm quite certain Buster made a meal out of one of our resident doves, but what can you do? I'm glad everyone escapes from your house! Hope Tiki can come down from there. Blue is a much better shade, I think.
