Simon seems to like the low blues alot although he did get some green numbers yesterday. He is still taking his antiobiotic ok with the greenies pill pocket and continues to eat well. It is my civvie, Cleo, that is giving me more problems with her UTI. One good thing -- she has had some litterbox action (finally!), although her UTI is still really bothering her and she is in the litterbox constantly. I hate to think she is so uncomfortable. I am now having problems getting the antibiotic in her. When I first gave it to her in the pill pocket, she loved it. Now she turns her nose up and won't touch it. Is there any other magic way to give it to her without forcing it down her throat?

It is hard to get to work on time trying to manage all these pills and food and litterbox issues. I think I need to take Family Medical Leave to take care of everything. Do you think cats count as family to the HR department? Have a wonderful day!

Re: 3/16 Simon AMPS 103

Not sure how your HR department would look at cats as family but they should!

With my civvie who refuses pill pockets I had to put the pill on the back of his tongue and hold his mouth close until he swallowed. Not very fun and I hope you find a better way with Cleo. Good luck.

Re: 3/16 Simon AMPS 103

You could get the empty gelcaps - size four and put the baytril in and put the gelcap together and push it together as far as it will go so its tiny and then try putting it in something she likes to eat. Baytril I hear tastes absolutely horrible. The gel cap may help sneak it by her. If you do have to pill her, this will make it easier for her also. Same with the pepcid.

PS. I hear you. I've got a dog with issues - she needs medication around the clock. Remember.... its for 20 days. Once she starts peeing and having normal LB visits you'll both be happier. Hugs and hang in there.

We should have a cocktail hour tonight. Maybe Michelle can make human drinks too

Re: 3/16 Simon AMPS 103

You could try putting the pill in cream cheese or in a piece of chicken.

It's so good to see Simon's numbers back where they belong!

Re: 3/16 Simon AMPS 103

Morning - love that amps - it is SO GREAT to have Simon's back where he used to be. Hooray!

Good luck with the pill issue. I can't think of any other tricks than what have been suggested. Mannie loves chicken - I've put pills in that before. He also likes the pill pockets: the duck and pea ones. They smell, but must smell great to cats.

Wouldn't that be great if the HR depts would grant leave for kitty issues - they should! family is family... :-D

@ Karrie: YAY on the cocktail hour! we could do that... though i may have to have my kid pitch in - he's the bartender...

Thanks for all the great ideas to try to get the pill down. Cleo loves chicken so I may try that trick. Cream cheese sounds like it might work so I'll try that one, too. I have tried both the allergy pill pockets and the regular ones and no luck, she won't eat them. Karrie, I didn't know you could buy empty gel capsules but that sounds like a great way to disguise the taste. I'll ask my pharmacist if they have them.

I stopped in at lunch to test Simon and is is green!! Both are eating their lunch so that is a good sign. Pepcid hopefully will help with the stomach issues. Back to work.

Cocktail hour sounds wonderful. Can it start right now??

Only girlie drinks at this hour. Nice job on the green Simon. Maverick pulled off a 96 at +4.

Call the pharmacist and ask for #4 - they are the smallest. #3 might work too - if the chicken doesn't work. I'd try that first.

good luck with the pilling....i know Rocket gets difficult on me sometimes but i dab the gelcaps in a lil butter and i make sure i syringe him some water for the pill to get down....and he loves licking my fingers afterwards...i guess he likes a lil saltiness from the butter....

Re: 3/16 Simon PMPS 140

Darn!! I don't know if the antibiotics are kicking in, and causing Simon's bg to go up slightly this evening. I hope he isn't so sensitive with this medication. Time will tell.

Claudia, what a great idea with the butter. Everyone here is so imaginative!

Heading out right now for a few hours. I am so exhausted I just want to relax and watch some mindless tv show and let my brain rest.

My brain is totally fried too. I'm running on fumes. I looked earlier on google for baytril and blood glucose and nothing pops up at all that I could fine with my searching abilities (not a guru). Maybe it was meter variance or something. Hope it was just a blip. Night Goergia.
