Good morning LL,

Sammy recovered very nicely last night after the mid-day vomit. I was not expecting a lower PMPS, but was very happy to see it. We did approximately 100 ml of fluids last night also. Sammy ended up going under 50 twice, so I did go ahead and take the reduction to .75 units. I figure if it is too soon, having been a reduction on Fluids Night, then we can always bump back up if we see the numbers rising again. I was nervous about taking this reduction because of the higher PS numbers we were getting earlier in the week when the dose was shorted by a drop or two, now we are decreasing the dose by .25 and I just don't know where that will go. But because I added in the 8% food I am hoping that will help. Maybe his body was a little nervous about the extra insulin on the lower carb food of 4-5%. I will continue to include a small bit of 8% with each meal over the next few days to see how he does. If all goes well I might be able to include more 8-9% food in the future. I think Sammy likes that food a little bit better then the 4-5% food anyway.

Hope everyone has a great day.

It looks like Sammy is on a mission again today.

I am a little confused about the 120 at +11, this may have been a bit of a food spike from the +9 snack, but I just don't know. Sammy hasn't really seemed to have food spikes since we went to Mini Meals, and I find it a bit ironic after reading Tonka's OTJ Day 2 thread and having it mentioned that it is possible that an inverted curve could mean that the cat is getting too much insulin. It makes me wonder if the the 120 from yesterday around the same time was caused by the vomiting or too much insulin. Like I said it just seems pretty ironic that this should happen.

I guess I will just try to get more late cycle readings to see if this is what is happening. Maybe those higher PMPS numbers from last week were in fact an inverted curve rather than a rise?

I am so confused, but what else is new. LOL!

I think what you're seeing yesterday at AM+10 and the PMPS and today's +11 and PMPS is what we call a "double dip"

One of the characteristics of Lantus is it can cause that double dip...where the Pre-shot is lower than the previous test, but higher than the nadir...it's perfectly normal and won't happen every time

Looks to me like he's having a pretty normal cycle....gradually down from Pre-shot to nadir then back up again in the later half of the cycle....then occasionally "double dipping"

Okay, that makes sense.
