Hello LL. We have had a busy week and have not been on here much. We are still chugging along at .5 u and still being a bad boy spraying around the house.

Rooh says - Mom has been giving me a homeo pellet that she sometimes takes for stress and I just luv how it makes me feel. I get sooo mellow and even started sitting in boxes and lying on my back to nap but.... I just still luv to spray...I think I just cant help myself. So mom puts me in my special room at night time and I am good in there.

She also pulled the scarecrow out of the garage and let it spray a couple of stray cats. he-he-he..Run boys, Runnn! :D She doesn't think its funny though cuz she doesn't like being mean to them.. what a softy she is..maybe she should learn to spray too...eh, she says no.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far.
Peace out!

hehehe what a nice report to hear from Rooh! that spraying though, that's a BAD habit, little buddy. You can turn that off and win points with your mom!

Hey Mel

Rooh is looking superb. What a stinker though with the spraying. Does the vet have any idea why he's doing that?

Good to see s Rooh condo.

@Marje and Gracie . No she doesnt. He has been doing it for about 8 yrs now off and on. It started after we brought a new cat home who has since left us and he also got into a fight with a stray in the backyard one day that year. I think that left him with some deep seeded emotional trauma. He was neutered 14 yrs ago. So it is assumed that its territorial anxiety.

I'm betting you've tried all the usual remedies like Feliway, Rescue Remedy for pets, etc. I'm sure it's frustrating.

@Marje and Gracie yep i have tried pretty much everything. I gave up on Feliway years ago, they are so expensive and he just kept spraying on them. I did try rescue remedy a few weeks ago and it seemed like it increased it BG. Since then I have been giving him a homeo pellet called Ignatia amara every few days and it does relax him and help some. It seems whats works best is to lock him up at night (He seems to like the discipline) and play with him often, and let him go outside in the morning to spray and get it out of his system. Im not fond of letting him out to do it, I would rather break the habit altogether but I haven't been able to do that. Back in November when he was super sick with high blood sugar he stopped spraying. Now that he is feeling better he is back to his old self.

I did try theanine in the past but that didnt work. I found something at Unleashed the other day called Licks Pill Free Zen. It has tryptophan, L theanine, eleuthero root and ashwagandha root. It a liquid. I have been afraid to try it though because it has 2.5 g maltrodextrin per dose and I am not sure if that is enough to shoot up his BG.

For now what we are doing seems to be working for several days at a time, I think his last accident was 4 days ago, so I am hoping if we keep it up for a few months the habit will get broken.
