Late posting today, bit of domestic crisis this morning as the freezer door was ajar overnight :arghh: so had to empty it out, defrost, clean and put it all back, not a great start to the day. Anyway, Crystal is a little higher today after a visit to the blues yesterday. This is her 6th cycle at this dose, do you think it needs a little tweaking or shall I have a go at the R again? Would be grateful for advice.

No advice, Suki, on the R. We've never used it. Might want to put a question in your subject line to catch some R eyes.

Ugh. On your morning! Not a great start to the day, that's for sure.

I too didn't use R, just have watched some others. I think you do have a choice to use it a little like you've done before (as Julie suggested) at preshot, maybe 1U and see if it gives the Levemir a better number to grab onto. The other option is a Levemir increase. Yellows are nicer than pinks, but I'd like to see more blue on her SS. This dose has had enough time to show what it can do.

Yikes on the freezer. I hate doing cleanups at a time not of my choosing.:arghh:

I don't think I will do anything at the moment regarding dose and or using R as Crystal is showing signs of constipation again. Just come in and tried to use the LB, straining hard but just two drops of liquid poo. Her britches look a bit messy so I think she must have done something outside. Lots of growling and tail swishing when I tried to clean her. Have given her some olive oil. She has been having pumpkin and plenty of water mixed in with her raw chicken, plus the Miralax substitute so i'm really not sure what the problem is and how to rectify it. It was around the 5th March that she had the previous episode, although she was vomiting then, which she isn't this time. EDIT, While I was typing this post she has managed to go, in several places other than the LB, strange as its very hard dry stools but also just pure liquid as well. Then she vomited, just clear liquid, no food. Think this must have cleared her out now, seems to have settled on her blanket, but think I will speak to my vet tomorrow, something's not right.

that doesn't sound good - i think it's smart to talk with the vet about the issue.

at any point if you are reluctant to increase the L, but her numbers are higher, i think that's the ideal time for using R. It's in and out fairly quickly but can bring her down a bit. I would probably increase the Lev as soon as you feel it's safe.

Good luck tomorrow!

I sat up until +7 with her last night. She seemed to settle after a big evacuation around +4 and then another little stool at +5. This morning there was evidence in the LB and she also passed another dryish stool just after AMPS, so she's s going frequently but it just seems hard work for her. Her AMPS was the lowest its ever been at 142, I gave the full dose, rather anxiously I must admit, and am now staying up to monitor.

I don't see the data for last night in the spreadsheet, but I suspect you'd be good for a couple hour nap now as the onset isn't for a few hours.

Sending lots of feel better vines for Miss Crystal. Some people notice higher numbers when the kitty is constipated and they come down when things are settled.

Thanks Wendy, I haven't updated her SS, I'll go and do it in a while but her numbers were PMPS 252, +4 282, +7 230, AMPS 142. I spent a long time reading about diet last night, I just wonder whether she doesn't have enough fat in her diet at present as, by all accounts, that can cause constipation. I might try mixing her raw food with some LC tinned that I have and see if that helps.

I don't know how much pumpkin/Miralax you're giving but maybe one or both of those should be increased along with making the olive oil a regular thing rather than only giving it when there's a problem. Vyktor is up to about 1 1/2 - 2 tsp of pumpkin a day plus about 1/4 tsp of coconut oil which seems to be keeping things quite regular - touch wood. Sending vines for Crystal.

Hi Serryn, thanks for posting and sending vines for Crystal. So far its about a teaspoon of pumpkin plus a good dribble of olive oil on her food, (although I've only just started to add it this way) plus the Miralax sub sprinked over her day's portion (about 1/8th teaspoon) and then divided up. Also an omega 3 capsuble once a day. Haven't heard about coconut oil, will do some investigation as to where I can get it. My vet mentioned mineral oil last time she had the constipation, does anyone know about this?

She seems okay at the moment, out in the garden in the sunshine. No more vomiting or straining for the moment. Unfortuantely my vet isn't around today, but I will call her tomorrow to see what she recommends. Paws crossed Crystal is over the worst part, but I'm watching her closely.
