Hi everybody. Tori isn't doing well at all today. I don't even know how really to describe it. She's alert but depressed at the same time. SHe doesn't really want to eat but she will take a few nibbles here and there. I blended up some of the Medical Recovery and she drank a little bit of that. SHe just looks so tired - as if the fight is going out of her. Someone peed on the living room floor while I was in the kitchen. I'm resuming it was her. She walks around.

I don't know what to do at this point. I have the feeling that our time together is drawing to an end. Am I being fair to her by keeping her with me? I just don't know. I can't think and I can't sleep either. Right now she is resting in her favourite chair. Please say a prayer for us. I need some guidance. God this hurts so bad.

I know how you feel, and all I can say is that if it is Tori's time, she will let you know. You will know. There will be no mistaking it. Just treat her normally and keep telling her how much you love her. I am sending you prayers, and I know that your compassion and love for Tori will lead you to support her in her chosen path.

Only you will know if its Tori's time. She's rebounded and surprised you and your vet many times. Is she on pain meds and antinausea medication? (I told you about my goldfish memory). Just keep tempting her to lap up food to keep her strong.

Hi, Barb ~ prayers & hugs from us to you. I might be out of the loop, last I knew Tori was doing well. I know things can happen or turn around quick, has something happened to make you wonder?

Prayers and vines for sweet Tori. I agree with the others that Tori will, in her own way, let you know when it's time. I can't begin to imagine how difficult it is for you right now. Hang in there and lots of hugs.

(((Barb))) and (((Tori))) - many hugs and prayers and thoughts your way. All I know is that if it is Tori's time, she will let you know. You will know. As Ella said: there will be no mistaking it. For now just keep doing what you are doing, tell her you love her, hold her, let her know you are OK with whatever choice she makes. I will be thinking of you both.

Hi everybody. Thanks so much for your support. It means the world to me. Sorry I didn't post earlier. I was trying to get a bit of rest and spent a lot of the time just cuddling with my girl.

Well she looks better - she's brighter and doesn't have that vacant stare that she had in the morning. She perked up quite a bit after she had her first fluids of the day. Maybe I made a mistake only giving her one yesterday.

As for the eating well that isn't going well at all. She nibbles at bit here and there but not anywhere near enough. I gave her her Metacop and Pepcid just a little while ago and I'm hoping that she'll feel like eating her dinner. If not well I guess I'll have to finger feed her. I'm also going to try some of the Mediacal Recovery that I blended for her. SHe lapped little bits of that. Maybe she'll let me give her some more.

Tomorrow I'm going to contact Dr Doug and see what he thinks our options are. I'm wondering about a feeding tube if that seems like a reasonable course of action and also maybe switching antibiotics. I don't know these are just ideas floating along in my head.

Well it's dinner time for the kitties. PLease send some very strong EAT EAT EAT vibes. Will be back in a bit.

So glad to hear she started feeling better. I was thinking about you and hoping you'd post with an update that she was improving.

I'm glad that Tori has perked up a little....now EAT please, Tori! Hang in there Barb....you're doing a great job with her, and she's doing her best, too. I hope she continues to improve....keeping you both in my thoughts.

Attempt number 1 at feeding dinner wasn't that successful. She totally turned up her nose at it and wouldn't take a nibble. I managed to get a little bit into her and am giving us both a break for awhile before we go at it again. She can rest and I can visit some condos. I feel so out of touch. I've been so engrossed in what's happening here that I have neglected everybody else. I'm home tonight so I can offer little bits frequently throughout the night.

Barb,

I feel for you as I have this issue with my CRF/IBD cat every few weeks. She'll just stop eating. I think it's a stomach acid thing. The food she devours one day she won't even touch the next. It's very stressful when they don't eat, but as long as she's getting a little, she'll be ok until it passes.

Completely different situation - but I do remember going through those thoughts with O'Malley at the end of his fight with cancer. Some days he did well, others not so much. It was so hard to figure out if he wanted to go on or if we were dragging things out because we weren't ready. Not an easy situation...((( )))

Just a thought...Kazi's appetite is the first thing to go when she is on antibiotics. The only one she has tolerated thus far is Baytril (transdermal). Everything else makes her appetite go down the tubes and usually results in vomiting as well. I know Covenia isn't a popular antibiotic with everyone here...but in her case it might be worth discussing? The vet I recently saw said they had a cat not respond well to any other antibiotic and was on deaths door...they gave her the covenia and she rallied and was improving quickly.
 
I'm sure you've tried different tricks to get her to eat...I know it's not ideal but have you tried crushed temptations on the food as topping? Just a thought

News Flash!!!- Fluids and Buprenex have been given and believe it or not she let me give her about 30ml of the Medical recovery mixture. I can't believe it. It all went in to. I think I just got a bit more of my hope back.

We're going to have a rest for a couple of hours and then I'll test her and try and give her a bit more.

Thanks Amanda. I don't know if I'd be willing to go down the Convenia route but I am planning to discuss the antibiotic with Doug. The reason she is on the antibiotic is because she developed a salmonella infection in her urine which made her septic. It could very well be that her lack of appetite could be from the salmonella and CP flare. She has had Baytril before with no problem. I don't know.

Thanks so much for all the EAT EAT vibes guys. Please keep them coming. I'm so glad the KTSS is coming again with the chicken soup. Hopefully it will perk her up some more. What would I do without you guys?
