Good morning,
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=115431

Another very black morning for my Rocky boy..I had a hard time sleeping even after 3:30am.. I was afraid that he might go too low again last night, even when he was at 245 when I finally went to bed. I worried that he could just do one of his famous dives. Maybe he did but recovered again, or this could be that continued bounce from yesterday.

I hope this afternoon's cycle can bring Rocky some better numbers.

Rocky yesterday recap:

AMPS 553 +2 417 +4 368 +6 414 +10 363 +11 371
PMPS 313 +2 295 +4 222 +6 245

he's dropped 150ish points in 2 hours - so roughly 75pts per hour. this is when giving some food early in the cycle (i see you fed at +1) might really slow him down and prevent him from bouncing right back up again.

a drop of 50pts per hour or less would be less likely to result in yet another bounce up after this one hits the bottom.

Hi Julie,

Well, I am now feeding him for 4 hours.. 1/4 can of food per hour for the first part of the cycle, i.e., pre-shot, +1, +2, +3. I am doing the same for the second half at the PM cycle.

I ordered the timed feeder you recommended today. Maybe that means I can get some more sleep once it arrives and I start to use it.

Is there any other suggestion you have for the very first feeding of the day? I know I am going to try to get more carbs into him but I need to pick a food that I think will be good for him.

I thought that extending out his meals in the shape of mini-meals is about all that I can do? Am I missing something here? Do you think I should feed him every 1/2 hr instead of every 1 hr? Do you think that would level out his BG?

no, i don't think every 1/2 hr is necessary. i think most people who have cats that drop fast and then bounce do hourly for the first 3 or so hours, so i think you're right on target. hope you like the feeder!

sometimes it takes a while to see the effect - you'll have to give it a couple of weeks at least to see if it's helping.
