Happy Caturday, LL!

I apologize for my absence, but it is official - Jersey is trying to kill me! A dentist visit on Tuesday revealed that I had two fractured teeth - one on each side of my mouth. The cause? Clenching my teeth at night. Thanks for the stress, Jersey Girl! They had to pull one tooth, and I spent the rest of the week in a drug-induced haze. (We're trying to save the other tooth.) DH took over Jersey duties after telling me that I looked like "a swelled-up monkey." (He's a true Arkansas "hick" with all kinds of interesting expressions.   ) DH is legally blind without his glasses, so I have no idea how accurate his dosing has been. From the numbers, it looks to me like he's been shy of the .50 dose we had Jersey on. However, it also looks like he's at least been consistent with his dosing. We've seen a lot of yellows this week. I've taken over shot duties now.

Jersey's been a happy kitty the past few days. Thursday night, I had to pluck her off of the top of the window valance after she tore through the house. Today, she was rolling in the mud outside.

We did have some bouts of diarrhea and vomiting this week, but I'm not sure Jersey was the culprit. With three indoor troublemakers, it's hard to tell who is doing what sometimes. I do need to get Jersey back on some hairball remedy. I've read on the boards that people find either Vaseline or coconut oil helpful. About how much do you give at a time? I have both on hand; I'm just not sure how much to give her.

I don't know how many condos I'll be able to visit tonight, but I'll try to get back in the groove as soon as I can.

Thoughts and prayers go out to all who need them!

I'm so sorry about your teeth. I hope the other one can be saved. I'm glad Jersey is feeling so good. I hope with consistent dosing you'll see some blue soon.

Dental stuff is the worst. I think it's medieval torture extended to modern times. I've been having periodontal work so I empathize!

If no one responds to your question about coconut oil, etc., send a PM to Marje. I know she uses coconut oil and can advise you about how much she gives.

And yes, Gabby did, in fact, eat dental floss. It was hugely stressful for us both. I do not recommend anyone have their kitty go through that experience.

Hi Shelly! Ouch on the teeth! I clench my jaw when I'm stressed, and have to physically think about it to make myself stop. It doesn't help when you're sleeping though  . I'm glad you have DH to help you out, did you tell him how romantic it is when he calls you sweet names like that?

For using vaseline, I just put a dab on my finger for Chyna to lick. Marje replied to my condo on coconut oil a long time ago and said to start slow (0.25ml twice a day up to 1ml twice a day) but that was me asking about treating her allergies/CKD/itching. I'm guessing it's the same for hairballs, start with a little to see? You can PM her to confirm, I just know too much will make Chyna poop (I've used it for constipation!). I've read some people give a little bit of unsalted butter too for hairballs. I'm not sure if this helps, hope so :-D Happy Caturday!

Ouch.........I hate dentists since I was 4 and got shook up by one when I was crying. Never forget it and to this day even though I have only needed cleaning I'm still afraid of them.......Go figure. Hope you heal up well and you got some lower #'s today........good on ya!

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the fractured teeth!!!
I agree with Sienne, dental = torture.
I happen to have a dental cleaning appointment for myself tomorrow, and I so wish they can do like they do to cats... under general anesthesia.

I tried coconut oil but unfortunately neither of my cats would eat it. :-x
I really hoped they would as coconut oil seems to have some other benefits.
I hope Jersey will like it!

you have my greatest sympathy. i have managed to kill almost all of my molars by grinding. i have a night guard and still do it. i now am blessed with 2 implants and a pile of crowns. what can you do? i hope you can save your tooth. the night guards do help.

your husband's comment made me laugh! i imagine we all hope to look like swelled up monkeys at least once in our lives!
