Hi all!

This week is going to be crazy, so I thought if I need to make any more changes, might as well get them all done this week!

With Lantus, is it recommended to pull food 2 hours before AM/PM shot time?

I've looked through a lot of threads and such, but there doesn't appear to be a clear consensus?

I'm not currently pulling food at that time, but then my girls don't normally want to eat at that time anyway. I'd like to get a better routine in place, though, since I do supplement with kibble.

Thank you in advance!

Until you have a really good handle on how much f a food bump your cat gets from eating it’s best to pull the food so the tests are food influenced when you inject. I always picked up food two hours before.

I haven't found that info stated in a sticky, either. But it is what everyone is told to do for safety until you know how food influences the BG. For the first few months that I was BG testing, I always pulled food two hours before. I don't think it's a great time to feed anyways since the insulin is wearing off and most cats have nadired by then. Try feeding earlier in the cycle before nadir.

If kitty is high at preshot, withholding food is not a concern. It's only if they are lowish and you are wondering if they would be safe to shoot without the influence of food. The first part of this Sticky Note on becoming data ready has a good explanation:
Tight Regulation: Becoming Data Ready to Shoot / Handle Lower Pre-shot Numbers
Even thought the post is for people following TR, the part of data collection is good for all.
