Yesterday's Condo
Happy kitties that were all snuggles. I'm amused at how Gizmo is learning to snuggle although, it means he's beginning to be less of a kitten and more of an adult. I swear he's continuing to grow, though.
Yesterday was a tough day. Saying my final farewells to colleagues and dealing with several truly touching e-mails was hard. It was even harder to say goodbyes to support staff. Our support staff are the unsung heroes/heroines of our department and are treated poorly by upper administration. When I announced I was leaving, I was inundated with requests for letters of reference/recommendation. It saddens me greatly that the people who keep many aspects of my now former department running are not given the respect they deserve. They are wonderful people who work very hard. On a happier note, it's a very different situation at OSU. People sing the praises of the support staff and from my limited experience, I may lead the choir. I was on the phone with one of the other faculty members regarding some upcoming events and it is such a different atmosphere. The level of support and collegiality are night and day. It's exciting.
