Good morning LL!
Clyde is looking good this morning. I'm going to do another check in about 20/30 min because his +2 was so low and I'm probably 2 hours from his expected nadir.

If Clyde's BG goes the way I'm expecting it to go in the next half hour/hour, he will drop into the 40s, which would normally be an indication for a dosage decrease, or in his case an OTJ trial. :D I have three days of insulin left and need to call in a refill on Monday to get it in time before I run out. I'm sort of hoping that he gets the change for an OTJ trial again today. It would be some good news after this week.

Max had no surprises this morning. I did a quick vacuum and mop of the kitchen floor to get up any remaining blood from my early morning scare. I thought this would also give him some time that he can rescent the area before Monday night.

I'm going to talk to my regular vet when she comes in on Monday, just to be sure this is what is best for him and to make all of the arrangements before I get there. It's going to be hard enough doing this and I don't want to have to do any more planning after it happens. I made a paw print impress last night and made sure I have lots of photos.

Right now he's curled up in my bed, under the covers. For whatever reason, he liked to do that. Even on the hottest days in the summer.

Good luck with the OTJ Trial for Clyde!!! Sending tons of positive vines for him and you!!!! Keep up the excellent work!

I'm glad that Max didn't give you any further surprises. :D WTG, Max!!!

Good luck at the vet's tomorrow. I look forward to hearing what was said when you return. :D

I had a cat, named Daisy (GA), who loved to snuggle under blankets, even in the summertime. :D I think it's cute when they do that. :D

This is weird...at +2.5 Clyde's BG went UP to 97. At both +2 and +2.5 I tested twice to make sure the numbers were accurate. As far as I know, he didn't eat anything between +2 & +2.5.

Anyone want to hazard a guess what is going on and where I should go from here? I did have to pull Clyde out from under the bed for the +2.5. He decided he wanted to play hard to get. :)

@Angela & Blackie & 3 Others thank you for your support. This is one visit that I'm not looking forward to.

I know ECID, but I was just reading Tonka's OTJ trial day 2 condo and noted that Tonka was having some higher numbers before going on his OTJ trial and Marj suggested that maybe he was getting too much insulin. Maybe this is something you need to consider here. I haven't looked at Clyde's condos much before, or his spreadsheet, but maybe one of the experts can lend some advice on this.

Hope you get to start your trial soon.

It's possible that 97 was a bit of a food spike from his breakfast. Or maybe it was a little stress from playing hard to get. These guys do like to keep us guessing!

Clyde seems to be pretty content with the 0.1u. I'm not seeing anything at the moment that would make me think he's ready for an OTJ trial - there are a lot of blue numbers still in his ss. If he were mine, I think I'd try keeping him on insulin as long as he'll tolerate it, especially since he's a long-term diabetic and is back from remission. But let's see what others think about it.

Thinking of you with Max - it's a hard thing to do. I hope tomorrow is as easy as it can be for both of you, and i'm glad you got footprints made. Some people also keep a lock of hair.

If he had dropped into the 40s at +2.5 instead of posting the 97, I would have considered an OTJ trial. Right now, I think I'm going to keep him on .1 u for a while. I have a feeling Max's condition is stressing him out and that will only get worse in the coming days.

Right now they are both laying in my bed contently.

@julie & punkin (ga) thank you. It means a lot. I'm trying to make Max as comfortable as possible and spend as much time with him as he will let me.

Tomorrow afternoon, I will talk to the vet's office and make sure I have all of the arrangements made before I get there. I don't want to have to think about it when he goes in or have to call back in later during the week. I'm going to be a mess tomorrow night. I'm a mess now just thinking about it and it hasn't happened yet.

Letting one of my cats be euthanized is one of the most painful things i've ever had to do. Losing punkin was nearly as bad as losing my parents. Our little ones are so precious.

that is a beautiful picture of the two of them. It's a keeper.

@julie & punkin (ga) I know it will be what is best for him, but knowing that doesn't make it easier. I'm hoping to get a few more pictures of him tomorrow before he has to go.

I did a +4.5 check on Clyde he's down to 58. I will attempt to check again in another half hour. At +5.5 he's up to 64.

With everything going on, I need to remember to call in Clyde's insulin refill tomorrow. Otherwise, he will end up on an unplanned trial when I run out.

Will, I just had to stop in and say what an absolutely wonderful picture that is of your two beautiful kitties. I am so sorry you are having to make this very difficult decision, and no, even when you knowing it's best doesn't help with the heartache. All I can offer is hugs of support, and hope for a very peaceful ending as your Max crosses the Rainbow Bridge. :bighug::bighug:

((((Will)))))

What a great picture of your two handsome boys. I know how hard this will be for you...we've been through it too many times but I admire you for thinking of Max and his QOL over your heartbreak. I will keep you in our prayers for peace and extra prayers for Max for a peaceful crossing.

I am not seeing any inverted curves on Clyde's SS. I'm wondering if you are able to feed him a +9 snack in the a.m. cycle if it might help drop the PMPS. If his pancreas is thinking about working, it should bring the PMPS down about 3-4 hours after you feed.

Thinking of you....

Just wanted to let you know I've been thinking of you guys. I know that you will continue to be very brave for Max and I too am full of admiration. I'm glad that you and Clyde will have each other for comfort :bighug::bighug::bighug:
