Under the heading of "never a dull moment," Miss Chispa surprised me with a lovely green preshot -- and then, just half an hour before I was to leave for an appointment, sailed right on down to 52, and then fifteen minutes later, after a large snack of LC, down to 43. I tried not to freak out, fed her a substantial amount of HC (probably more than I should have), then called to see if I could reschedule my appointment. Luckily they had an opening two hours later, so I can stick around to feed and test.

So far she's had two helpings of HC and is still meowing. It's almost time to retest. My but this is stressful ... I am not used to the hypo drill!!! :nailbiting:

Hypo Drill ...ROFL excellent description.

Woah! She rarely drops to limes.
I KNOW -- and all the while, she is eating me out of 16% house and home!!! I have more on the backup shelf, but sheesh -- you'd think all these carbs would be making a dent, yet even at +5.25 we are still at 48!!!
(BTW, I redid the title and my SS after double checking the meter. I was off by an hour to start with, and the times don't fall neatly into 15-minute increments, so I'm doing my best to approximate as accurately as possible. ;)

You would almost think I had overdosed her, but I am absolutely certain that I did not. I was at the end of a vial this morning, and it took me a couple of tries to get a dose with no air in it --- so I was being extra careful with the measuring -- and I have calipers now! :)

I was beginning to wonder about this after seeing today's cycle.

And by the way, these HC "snacks" I am giving her are definitely more than the recommended 1 tsp. It's a good thing she likes to eat. :cat:
Do you have anything higher than 16%? She should head up soon! It's past +5.

It's almost 6 -- and she is almost always on the way up after +3!! I just gave her another meal of 16% plus the gravy from a 12% pouch. I know that averages to 14%, but the food in the pouch that is not gravy is nothing but white meat chicken -- I hope that means the gravy is more than 12%.

This is crazy!! What else could account for such a prolonged low?? I'm going to cancel my appointment, as I would have to leave in 45 minutes and I don't think that is going to be possible.

ETA: I don't have anything higher than 16%. Is it time to start mixing in some Karo??

WOW what a day. I'm just catching up - Chispa has decreed that she is D O N E with this dose! Great Job Karen :bighug: Will you be able to get another test around 7.75/ 8ish?
Just tested again: 69 at +7.5. Bast be praised!!! :cat:

I honestly don't know what happened today. I was at the end of a vial, drew up a dose that I couldn't get the bubbles out of, plus the markings on the syringe were off (plunger not all the way to the top), and I kept trying to measure with the calipers, but finally I gave up and put the cap on that syringe and started afresh with another one. I remember checking it with the calipers, so it had to be at least pretty close to correct. I started to wonder, when she wouldn't come up out of the 40s, is there any way I could have given her both doses???? I looked in the can that I throw the used syringes, strips, and lancets into -- and I found a syringe with an unused dose in it. It wasn't sitting directly on top of the pile -- I had to look at a dozen syringes before I found it -- but with picking up and moving the can, others could have fallen on top of it.

It's off to the FedEx drop box now. I'll test again when I get back. Turns out you can only enter so many tests in the thread title before it cuts you off -- but you probably knew that!!! :p:bighug::cat:

I know how you feel about second guessing yourself! I would often be unsure about things, crazy cat stress!!!!! lol:facepalm:
I am realizing my little bookworm student made it a cake-walk.... but I can offer moral support! And encouragement :bighug::bighug:. Well done... she's up, will watch for her next test number;)

Lol yes I am very aware of that :joyful:. I usually delete everything except AMPS, lowest BG and most current BG. This way members scanning the title can see there was a lime but everything's fine now :D.
I know how nerve wrecking it can be and time is so slow in-between the BG tests. You were amazing today! Don't forget to adjust the calipers to the new dose tonight :bighug:

I see Chispa went a little overboard in refreshing you on that low numbers drill.

Something to consider, last night's high blue might have been a "high before the low". Tuck that away in case you see an unexpected high number again.

Favour to ask, could you remove some of the earlier 40's tests on the subject line, and add one of the "safe green" numbers so we know she's come up into safe waters.

When I saw 83 this morning, I thought we were in for a nice steady surf, like the last green preshot on 3/12 AM. Little did I know what drama awaited,
I'll be filing this whole day into a folder labeled Reasons Never to Leave the House Again.

I expected the mother of all bounces at preshot time, but maybe she's saving it for tomorrow. Meanwhile, I cleaned up the post title (à la the Angela Method) so that the current, much less stressful numbers are visible.

Miss Chispa is tuckered after her ordeal and is curled up in her favorite safe place -- her carrier (ironic, given her dim view of the V-E-T).

I am heading at bed at +3, BG permitting.

Thank you all so very much for hanging in there with me today. It was not an easy day, but at least I never felt alone.
