Re: 3/15 Checkers amps 77

I have noticed the cold ears when Vyktor's low too! Sending good vetty vines, if Checkers does sykrocket he'll come down soon enough - probably before you get home to test :-D unless he hates the car too :?

Re: 3/15 Checkers amps 77

Wow, nice shootin'! Go Checkers and Barb!!! Good luck with the vetty appointment...hopefully Checks will keep things "in check" and not jump through the roof.

Have a great day!

Re: 3/15 Checkers amps 77 +1/75

Hi Barb,
Yes, they do bounce on Lev., but maybe not as violently. Nice AMPS for Checks this morning. Hope he does well at the vet. Sending good vetty vines,

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

amps 77~~~ .25u lev lc breffis
+1/75~lc
+2/62~mc
+3/67..mc

Checkers thinks the pokies are worth it, for the yummy Elegant Medleys.

I'm now wondering if it wasn't the Duralactin raising his numbers at all. Could be just bouncing from the 30's on 3/11

eta: changed numbers in subject line. I wrote 'em in wrong.

what a fab day Checkers is having! seems like the Lev is just the ticket for him!

Re: 3/15 Checkers amps 77 +1/75 +2/62+3/67 +4/82

I'm really glad you shot the .25u, Barb...great decision!

Yes...they can absolutely bounce on lev. Lev just helps to flatten out the dives; they can still dive, too, but hopefully not as much or as often.

Looks like he probably cleared the bounce during the night. It sorta kinda looks to me like he might be nadiring at +2; still need more data but on non-bouncing or bounce-clearing days, I see him coming down to there and then heading up until he onsets again. I'd be sure and get a +6 at the latest, Barb, because I have an inkling that might be about the time he onsets. No crystal ball here and I do think it takes time until a really clear picture develops but I just gotta wonder ;-) ;-)

Hope you are doing well.....Gracie sends big little Gracie striped paw hugs to you!

Hi guys and wow! I LOVE seeing these numbers on checks! I hope it was just a bounce off those 30's and he can use the duralactin again .. and hopefully with good results! And I hope the vetty visit goes well .. be a good boy checks! Have a great day!

Re: 3/15 Checkers amps 77 +1/75 +2/62+3/67 +4/82

Morning Barb - great shooting! What a great cycle today. I think that in a while you should have good data to be able to understand better what he's dong on the Lev. Wish I could help, but I am clueless on Lev. I do know that they will still bounce, can still dive, but the severity of the dives should be much less - i hear it tends to flatten them out more. Good Luck - I still think it was a great decision for Checkers.

Hoe all goes well with his vetty appt, and that it doesn't send his numbers soaring.... paws crossed.

Hope ll is well with you too! Enjoy your day. :-D :-D

Very informative vet visit, with Dr Dave. The vet that suggested Duralactin, wasn't Checks' regular doc. She doesn't know Checkers history, the way Dave does.
Anyway, we discussed the different meds for arthritis, and Dave explained how they work for joint problems (arthritis), but that isn't what Checkers has. He gave me the fancy word for squooshed disk. I'm sure it's in my paperwork, but can't find it.
The glucosamine type meds won't work for him. He needs med for pain, period.
But.......he asked if I would consider acupuncture. He was skeptical just a few months ago about it's effectiveness, but has since seen it work wonders on horses, and dogs.

So, he is going to talk to the doc at their main clinic and tell her about Checkers, and if she thinks it could work to alleviate his back pain, I'll try it. He will call me on Sat.

Also, he was surprised at Checkers' tartar buildup in only 3 months, so he's getting his teeth cleaned next week.
Dave is uncomfortable putting Checks under anesthesia, because it causes much back pain, when his body "wakes up".
Last time, I saw that for myself, but the bupe took care of that.

My clinic doesn't use Metacam any more. I think Dave was suprised that I even asked. They use bupe.

One more thing. He was sooooooo impressed at Checks SS , and the difference in the flatness of his bg, since Levemir.
I'm so excited that I got to teach the doctor something. He had no idea there could be such a profound difference in the insulins.

sounds like a wonderful vet! Glad things went well and you got some answers!

Re: 3/15 Checkers pmps 146 +1/94

Love the vet report Barb - Good luck in finding a good pain med for checkers. FWIW: I have a friend that does acupuncture for her kitty with arthritis. She says it has made a world of difference and fer kitty is now pain free. She does however have to go in every two weeks for repeat treatment. I have no clue though on how well it would work on the disc issue. It might be worth a try though. Very nice that Dave likes the difference in Checks on LEV- Great isn't it when we can teach them somethings. YAY! I think Checks loves the LEV- so glad you made the move!

Re: 3/15 Checkers pmps 146 +1/94

What a wonderful vetty visit and great Checks report!!--The Lev seems to be so so good for him!
You must be so happy for the progress that Checkers has made, and I hope it's just the beginning of your baby feeling so much better...What a great day for you
And Checkers! Hugs & Love from us :-D

Re: 3/15 Checkers pmps 146 +1/94

Looks like maybe Checkers thought you had enough rest the last day or so. ;-)

Interesting vet visit. Nice job!

Was that drop after the vet...once you got home? I just ask because Latte always went lower at the vet, and more by the time we got home. I always brought karo and test strips. I know there are some others who have had a similar experiences w/their cat...instead of going higher, they go lower when stressed.

Did the vet suggest tramadol? I was never brave enough to give it a go, as I have heard mixed reviews. But some people really think it helps.

I did the acupuncture too late with Latte. I was told it could take up to 3 weeks to see results. I totally think it is worth a shot. WCF/Meowzi did acupuncture on a regular basis. You could try sending her a pm.

I hope you guys have a nice mellow evening!

Thank you for the good thoughts, everyone.
Carolyn, we tried tram for Checkers, last year, and he got spaced out on it. It was half a pill, but I don't remember the dose.

I give him bupe as needed, right now, but I wanted something to give him on a regular basis, so he doesn' tget to the point of needing bupe.
The company that makes Metacam was supposed to have come out with a new, NSAID, that is safe for cats, but he hasn't seen it yet. Who dares to be the first to try it on their cat?

Yes, he dropped once we got home.

Time for +3, and hopefully, sleep, for me.
I wanna know what people do, when they get up early, and the cat wants to eat, but you can't feed until it's closer to PS :YMSIGH:
