Yesterday was such a near perfect day. Now a blue AMPS. What does this mean in terms of remission? I don't know how long he has to hold those perfect greens before a healthy trial of remission is started. I know you've told me, Marje, but I was on cloud 9 yesterday and to have this 133 put a tear in my eye. I know... that's not very fair of me. I'm still battling this flu and I'm very emotional as it is... you should see me when I'm sick. NOT pretty. I'm a bucket of tears. I'm going to go lay back down until the next test in 20 min.

Ideally they need to be in greens for a week before starting a trial. Despite being blue right now, Chase looks stunning in general - he really does.

I hope you feel better soon....

It is quite a big drop, so I think you are thinking along the right lines with a little more carb.
I might even go with some HC at this point seeing as it's 70 pts in an hour and early in the cycle.

He spent almost 24hrs surfin greens yesterday, that's a first for him. It might just take a little while for him to settle down and go flat, yesterdays cycle was promising though.

I suggested the HC to try and put the brakes on him now and see if he will then surf, you could try the MC or chase mix to see if they do the same, it's the fact that it's early in the cycle that makes me err towards more than just a higher LC.

Will do. Will give 1 tsp HC gravy. Is this typical? After the kind of day he had yesterday? :(

LOL there's nothing typical about a cat.

One question, did he eat his +9 snack at +9??
When we are at this stage of the game George was a little b**ger and would eat his +9 at +11, or whenever he wanted, so to make sure he only had a one hour window to get his fuds, Wendy suggested, to get the feeder to turn at +10, then at least I knew that he hadn't eaten for 2 hours before the amps.

OMG... I just looked at his timed feeder. He ate at +11. It should have been +9. Here I have messed up with his food AGAIN. Why do I do this when things are so promising? I'm very disappointed in myself.

Well at least you have an explanation to why he was slightly higher at amps:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Don't be hard on yourself s**t happens, at least you remembered to give him his shot, yours truly here clean forgot one time:oops:

I agree....it's one cycle. Don't worry...he has come back down and all will be fine. Actually, it's a good comparison of how the +9 helped him! :)
Can you tell me what happened, Marje? I know he isn't supposed to eat for 2 hrs before his test. But why did he drop so sharply? Can you explain this to me so that it makes some sense? I mean... I can usually follow directions, but this really stunned me and I want to continue to learn. So many factors that I can't make sense of it. :(

Whenever the BG starts at a higher number, once onset occurs, it can allow for a bigger drop. If he's already at or below 100 at PS, he won't drop as much. That's why we often see cats at 300 taking steep dives; they just don't do that when the BG starts much lower.

He likely got a small food spike from the +11 feeding and it "might" have also nipped his duration a bit so he started from a higher place. Then he had onset and possibly also his pancreas kicked in three hours after he ate.

you are not alone...
The one clock we forgot to move forward this past weekend was the one on the timed feeder.

In the meantime it looks like he caught another green wave:D

Surfs up!

He's good. This big storm has cramped his style for going out as it's in the 20's here. He sits on the stoop and within 5 minutes his face is pressed against the French door and his one eye opened as wide as it can be saying " let me in , let me in"! He hates the wind. I rather like him not being outside but I promised him ...
You're such a sweet mommy. Chase has ALWAYS been an indoor kitty. And he's 11. I was always too scared I would lose him. I was in a long term relationship with a guy, once when Chase was 6 or 7. The stupid guy would let Chase outside. I would get so nervous it would almost make me sick to my stomach. The guy would say, "Ohhhh... he's not going anywhere". And I'd say, oh yeah.... And don't you know it... Chase would try to sneak away. LOL.

LOL... thank you, Sandy. I love the encouragement. How is your black kitty? He's SO handsome. :) I see that he used to be on a high dose. How did you get him from there, to being OTJ? That's amazing! :)
Our journey is quite the story..I really should write it up.

It's closing in on a year now, since Black Kitty went over the bridge. cat_wings>o...
He was a living legend....the last cat anyone expected would go OTJ.
He continues to be a symbol of hope.

Oh Sandy... I'm so sorry. I didn't know. What a precious way to honor him... by remaining a part of this incredible support group. I am so grateful. Whenever you "write that book", I'll be the first one in line to get my copy. So many amazing people who continue to a part of this community even after their loved one has crossed that bridge... it's just so inspiring. Thank you! :bighug:

My sweet boy still has more greens than blues. He's worked so very hard to be a part of his own healing. These creatures are amazing. :) Our +3 is our last "stick" of the day. His poor little ears need a break. Until tomorrow... I hope that everyone rests well. Thank you for guiding me. :joyful:

PS... I finally got a ketone strip under him while he was using his litter box. It comes up as completely negative for ketones. This is good, right??? :)
