Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373

Willie, let's get off that pink floor while your Bean is btb. It would be a very nice way for her to wake up.

Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373

As long as you can test, you're good with increasing the dose. Good luck and let Willie know pink isn't his best color.

Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373, +2.5~388

Okay, crazy coupon bragging for a bit on my trifecta (quadfecta??) of savings today online at Petco! I finally got my gift card codes from my ebay purchase... paid $61 for $100 in gift cards.

Bought the following:
$35.76 1 case (24) 5.5 oz. cans of Merrick BG chicken & quail
$13.97 1 40# bag precious cat litter (regularly $16.99)
$15.19 1 6.2 oz. bag of purebites chicken treats (regularly ($18.99)
$27.97 1 feliway diffuser (regularly $46.99)
$17.49 1 feliway refill (regularly $28.99)
---------
$110.38
- 11.03 10% off coupon code
+ 4.99 shipping
+ 6.89 sales tax
---------
$111.12

Paid with the $100 in gift cards and put $11.12 on the credit card, but also got $5.96 back through fat wallet (mr. rebates and ebates won't let you get cashback if you pay with a gift card). So I ended up getting all that for $66.16. Sale prices + coupon code + cashback + discount gift cards = 55% off regular prices for stuff I buy normally (and have paid full price for in the past!).

Heading home in another hour to take Willie to the vet. Turns out, I could have just stayed home today... we inexplicably were allowed to take unscheduled leave for the 2 inches of snow on the ground, even though the roads were perfectly clear. Insane.

Will report back on the vet as soon as I can!!

Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373, +2.5~388

Great job on the coupons.. I should hire you
I hope Willie comes on down & things go good at the vet.. what is he going for? He seems to go a lot! I hope everything is ok.. stay safe..
Weather is crazy.. snowed, now melting & going to be in the 70s soon..

Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373, +2.5~388

Hey, Nicole! The 70s can't get here soon enough! Anxious to get out on the tennis court!

He's just doing a follow-up with the dermatologist. They want to be able to look him over before adjusting his meds. I did hear a sniffle last night, so going to have them check that out too. I know a lot of people here use L-lysine, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate for Willie. It is an immune support booster, and the point of his skin meds is to suppress his immune system, so going to ask the vet if it is okay.

Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373, +2.5~388

What are you doing up there Willie? Are you waiting for Mannie to come down or Tess to come up?

@-) I admire your coupon savvy , but it makes my head spin. Good job! :thumbup

Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373, +2.5~388

O goodie.. happy to hear he is ok.. I tried using that supplement for Sadi but she can smell it & refuses it
Stay safe today & will look forward to hearing about his follow up visit :-D

  I agree with Ann, it makes my head spin!

Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373, +9~298, +10.5~232 Remission!!

We are back from the vet. Willie once again did very well in the car. Couldn't find the plug in thingy for the car jack, so I just put the feliway thing right in front of his carrier (he rides better in the carrier, buckled into the front seat facing me). Between that, the pheremone cartridge in the carrier and the rescue remedy, he was pretty chill.

Vet gave him a once over, said that Willie was officially in remission, and we are to cut back the cyclosporine dosing from daily to every other day for the next month. If no sores appear, we go to every third day for a month, and if all is well again, we will try to take him off it altogether. The vet seemed pretty optimistic about Willie's chances given that his case wasn't a typical case of pemphigus, and given how quickly he responded to the meds (which doesn't typically happen). Discussed Willie's sniffles. He thinks that cutting the cyclosporine will help and said to go ahead and start the L-Lysine (he figures it's controversial, but there's no harm so might as well try!).

I also had a great chat with the IM tech. She was the one who was worried about using the Lantus pens because the pharm tech had it all backwards. I had taken Willie's stuff in b/c I didn't know how long the appointment would be. I had the derm tech grab her and I showed her the pen, how I used it, explained that Costco and maybe some of the hospital pharmacies would sell them in single pens for around $40 in our neighborhood. She was SO excited I had asked for her. I also told her about Walmart for testing supplies... if someone couldn't afford a pet meter, that the Relion was a good option. She was flabbergasted to learn that a person could, for under $100, have everything they needed to get started... insulin, syringes, meter, strips, and ketone strips. She said she was really grateful I had bothered to say something and then ran to the back to write everything down so she could tell the IM vet about the pens. I did talk to her about handling issues.. refrigeration, not shooting air/insulin back into the pen, not reinserting the needle, etc. It was just really nice to see a vet person excited about what I had to say rather than rolling their eyes.

Willie is happy to be home, though cross that he has to wait an hour for dinner. LOL He did a great job singing his tale of woe to all who would listen... complete with some deeply mournful howls. Maybe I should have him audition at a local blues club? There's this one... BB's Lawnside BBQ.... might be right up his alley!! Maybe the kitties can take it over for a night??? He's curled up in my lap now getting lots of pets.

Gotta run out for a bit tonight, but will check in on condos later!!

Re: 3/14 Willie AMPS 373, +9~298, +10.5~232 Remission!!

So nice to hear Willie had a good Vet report. Great, too, that the Derm Tech listened to all your information on meters, syringes that are affordable to pet owners. Good job and then the Tech can help pet owners of newly diagnosed kitties learn that it is affordable, and they don't need to buy the AT and strips if they can't afford it.

Re: 3/14 Willie PMPS 264 Pemphigus Remission!!

WOOOOOHOOOOOO What an awesome update Christie. I'd be *dancing* all over the house! Great news on the remission.

The vet tech sounds like a gem. So cool that she was listening. I bet some of what you said will make it to the customers. The vet tech is the one that trained us on diabetes at the snarky vets.

Re: 3/14 Willie PMPS 264 Pemphigus Remission!!

Great news, Christie.. very happy for you both.. I just might have an ice cold beer in your honor while watching The Bachelor

YAY!! Great news! That is so awesome - go Willie!! You get less meds! SWEET!

I love the vet tech story - it is so nice when they want to learn what we have learned. Well done!

and nice numbers too. Good day all around for you Willie :-D

Happy news!! Great vet report--Hope we havew such luck at the vet tomorrow night with Copper!!-
