Last night I manage to get a +6 test and he tested 374. He just tested 416 for his AMPS. I don't knwo what's going on :/

I think I'd increase to .75 if he's over 400, stick with .6 if under? I don't see any numbers that would be causing a bounce, so it just looks like he needs a little more insulin.
Anybody else got any idea?

He is tending higher than we would like. I know we sound like a broken record, Nadja, but without more data, we are only guessing at what he needs in terms of dose. Any time you are around him, grab that lancet and meter and get a number. It will SO help us figure him out. In the door, out the door, before bed - any number is helpful.

Thanks Carl for the suggestion. Sue I just tested him +7 and he is 385 ;/ he also had a little snack maybe 1 hr or so ago.

Ditto what Carl & Sue have said.

If I hadn't seen it for myself, I wouldn't have believed that a kitty could have a preshot at 415 and get down into the 50s mid-cycle! Do your best to get some of those numbers, then the higher preshots won't be quite as upsetting.

Try not to get frustrated... we all struggled at the beginning. Grayson's ears didn't bleed. I know my blood pressure was off the charts when I tried to test him. It gets easier, and we get better at the whole process. Don't beat yourself up - it's still early in the dance!

Thanks for the encouraging words :D
It breaks my heart when I poke him and he bleeds too much like now :/
I feel sad for him, I just wish he could understand what is going on!!

I will see if i can test him again a couple hrs before his PMPS because I'm also wondering how low he is getting because we don't know it yet. :/

How many days should we wait before changing doses? IS there a minimum amount of days that would be recommended before changing doses? Today is the second day I 'm giving him 0.6u unit, I wonder if his body needs to adjust before I change doses again. Any thoughts?

The more you test the better you become. The more BG numbers you get the better doses you can give. The better doses you give the better numbers you get. The better numbers you get the better Sam will feel.

Frustration is all part of FD. Keep it up you are doing good! All of this takes time.

Not the answer you want, but ECID. Some kitties seem to let you know after only a couple of days. Others (Copper is a good example), seem to take 4-5 days before settling into a new dose. I think what you look for is for a pattern to emerge and repeat three or four times before you can reach a conclusion about whether to drop, hold, or raise.

Also, try to keep this in mind. Sam has no idea he's "sick". He just knows some days are better than others. What he does realize is that he's getting a lot more attention and love nowadays than he's used to. And once he associates the pokes and needles with "hey, I'm having much better days with all these pokes and needles", he'll learn to love it. It took Bob a while, but he learned that the treatment meant treats and feeling better, and he'd get to the "test spot" before I did lots of times. Even now, 8 months after his last shot, he runs when he hears the test case zipper or the meter go "beep". Only hears it one a month, but he remembers...
