WCR: ate every single crumb of her Special Kitty turkey and giblets last night. First time her bowls have all been licked clean in quite a few days. My question is, is special kitty (walmart brand) an "ok" food to give? From the list it looks like it is low enough carbs, but I'm not sure about quality? Is it something that we should only use temporarily or is it ok to stock up on?

I don't know about the Special Kitty food but the special kitty that lives in this condo has a very pretty ss.

goooooo Mocha!

I don't know what the quality level of Special Kitty is. I used to be picky about what my cats ate and I wanted them to only have things like Evo and Wellness, and I had promised myself that Fancy Feast was the lowest quality I would feed them. I still would prefer that, but one of my guys is extremely finicky so I buy whatever he wants to eat. I've never tried Special Kitty but I might pick some up for his picky weeks.

Wow -- wonderful PMPS!!

Here's the list of ingredients in the Special Kitty turkey. My concerns would be that the first 3 ingredient are either meat or poultry by-products and water. I never understand pet food manufacturers. When you buy turkey, why would you want the primary product to be meat (to say nothing of by-products)?

Meat By-Products, Water Sufficient Enough For Processing, Poultry By-Products, Turkey, Poultry Giblets, Fish Hydrolyzed Yeast, Guar Gum, Titanium Dioxide, Steamed Bone Meal, Potassium Chloride, Salt, Carrageenan, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Niacin Supplement, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement), Minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Manganous Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), Taurine, Sodium Nitrite (to Promote Color Retention).

thanks everyone. I have a feeling that special kitty is not as good for mocha as what ff was. That isn't saying FF was a ton better, but I think overall it is better for her. Mocha easily goes through a case a week of FF (13.00) and it cost us 5.00 to get her food this week. Im not saying price is the reason for the change, because we were affording the FF OK, but mocha wasn't eating that much of it anymore while she gobbles up the special kitty food. It is a hard choice to make. Give her the food that might not be as good for her, but she eats it, or give her the food that she walks away from anymore, but is better for her when she does decide to eat? It is always something! I wish FF was the same as it has been for the past year.
