Happy Lupita Friday!! Many healing vines for JD, Dyana, Dyana's Dad, Cain, and any others who need them. More prayers for Liz on her trip to her aunt's services.
Gracie was particularly lovey dovey last night in bed. She crawled all over me, kneading my hips and legs, hogging my pillow, curling up under my neck and then by my side. I think we have some mutual absolute adoration going on!! Unfortunately, it has been like Grand Central Station around here this morning and so there has been very little interaction between Gracie and Lupita so far. The pest control guy came and Gracie got into her hammock under the recliner and stayed there until I pulled her out to feed her on the catio. Lupita has been in the rest of the house. But Gracie has been out on the catio head butting everything within reach.
We are doing an experiment with her dose. We've taken it up to .55u twice recently and both times after 12/13 cycles, she's dropped to the 20s or 30s. We reduce her; she doesn't do much within six cycles so we take her back up. While we don't like high blue/low yellow, we thought since the numbers so far aren't HORRIFIC, we'd give her 6-7 cycles and really see if this is a bounce or not. Today is the 5th cycle. Her AMPS and +2 were lower than yesterday but her +5 was higher. So we will see. It's not much longer to wear patience pants. The other thing is her insulin is over 40 days now on this pen but because she's on such a low dose, I have well over 1/2 a pen left. Every time we think it is the pen, it hasn't been so......
She pulled a good one on us yesterday. It was a beautiful day here and since she was up and I really needed a break from work, we decided to hike up to Seven Falls in the Forest Service Wilderness. It's 8 miles roundtrip (+23,000 steps on my fitbit) over some rugged terrain and back and forth across the creek about 5 times. The last 200 yards is equivalent to a figure skater throwing in a triple axle jump in the last 30 seconds of a 4 minute program.  Gracie had come down from +2 to +5 but not a lot and the day before, she had done the same and then went back up. We figured we had 3.5 hours. We made it to the Falls in 1.5 hours and it was well worth the hike...the falls were beautiful. We had a picnic lunch in 30 minutes and then headed back out. However, on the way back out, an old ankle injury of Mike's started bothering him and so we slowed down a bit. We finally got to the trailhead at 3.5 hours with still another +2 miles to go on a gravel road for emergency vehicle use only before we got to the parking lot. Mike's ankle was really hurting by then because we had really turned up the speed once we hit the road. So he told me to go on ahead and get home to check her. I had one of those feelings that she was low and I was getting pretty concerned. I literally ran over a mile (no water as I left the water and phone with Mike), my heart thumping like crazy, and only slowing down to a fast walk on the hills. I got to the car and, thankfully, it's only a five minute drive home. I raced home, ran in the house...she was on the back of her favorite den chair and I was so GRATEFUL when she tossed her head at me and gave me the 'Sup Mom???. Whew...she was not in a coma!! But I know she can be in the 20s and acting normally. I grabbed the meter; got a good poke. Strip did not fill right and I got an error message  Ran and got the other meter, poked, waited....you know how that is. And...the BG was......237!!!   It's about the only time I've been thankful for that high of a number. I quickly drove back over and picked Mike up, got back home, collapsed in the chair to rehydrate, and she leaned over and smothered my face with sweet little butterfly kisses cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon
Back at work today. Have a super duper day.
