Clyde was at 125 this morning for his preshot, which is up a bit from where he usually is in the morning, but appears to be doing well considering everything. I think he knows something is up with Max.
@Tricia & Cinco Thank you.
Max is 15 and had previously been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The good news as of his last full blood & urine sample, 3 weeks ago, it had not progressed beyond trying to control it with diet. If the tumor was in the eyes, I would ask if that was a viable option.
Unfortunately, it's in the nasal cavity. In order to confirm it they would need to do an MRI or CT scan and then a biopsy. With the latest development, the probability is almost certain it is a tumor.
It is not something that can be removed surgically. It would mean putting him through chemo and radiation therapy. The average survival is 6 months to a year with treatment. I'm not willing to put him through months of torture just to get a couple more months with him.
The latest development, with his eyes, the vet believes it's the tumor growing and starting to eat away at the bone and pressing against the eyes and his brain. One of their concerns is that it is causing him pain and that he could end up having what looks like a nose bleed and bleed out.
This morning when I woke up and saw blood around his nose and drops on the floor of the kitchen, I feared for the worse that it was happening. The bleeding did stop and at this point I am praying he makes it to Monday.
I did order a kit to make impressions of his paw prints and that should be coming today, so providing he cooperates I will be doing that this evening.
