March 12, 2019 Condo - Reduction earned

Good morning all,
Lou earned himself a reduction yesterday, which was wildly surprising considering it was only his 2nd cycle with greens on the 2.75u dose. Lately, he hasn't been messing around with BGs in the 40s, it's been right to the 30s. I'm especially surprised because we feed him multiple meals/snacks per cycle, generally after we test, so he hit that 37 at +9.25, but he had gotten a meal after the +7.5 check. Apparently he really wanted the reduction. I'm hoping he does better on the 2.5u than he did previously.

So today and tomorrow we're getting a potentially "historic" blizzard here. With rain to start, freezing rain/sleet in the middle, and anywhere from 2-11 inches of snow on top of that. Wind gusts up to 60 mph. I am supposed to work tomorrow, but I know in my bones there is absolutely no way I will try to attempt to go in if they choose to remain open. I find myself absolutely terrified, and I'm not entirely sure why. My stomach has been twisting and turning into itself since yesterday, which is not like me to worry so early. I think I'm worried about the house and the possibility of a long-term power outage. There's also been so many roof collapses around here from the snow, and apparently I'm worried about that too. Ugh. My car was making weird sounds yesterday, so I brought it in this morning. I hope they call me with an update soon, because it's time to batten down the hatches. I think the rain will start around 3pm (+8.5) today.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and your kitties surf safely. I hope any and all of you in the path of this storm stay safe!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ugh - stay safe and warm; I hope this is another over-hyped storm system, but this winter has been so suck-worthy that I'm no longer optimistic. I'm not sure how much of it we're supposed to get here in southern WI, I think mostly rain, but that's a mess, too, since there's nowhere for it all to go.

But spring is just around the corner, right? :D

Behave yourself, Lou, don't go deep diving again, please - that scares us all!

Lou, aren't sharks enough, did you have to go looking for octopus????

Today is the day to prepare in case storm is bad. Get your food supply, boil up some eggs (easy to eat if no power), batteries and candles, keep devices charged. Gas tank full. We fill the jugs litter comes in with water for flushing. And fill all our pitchers with water and put in fridge. We have sternos for making coffee/tea and cooking frozen entrees if needed. Our biggest problem is keeping devices charged if power is out to long.

Hope you don't get it that bad, if you do stay safe.

I completely hear you! We've been getting lucky the last 5-7 years here with not getting the big snowfalls or storms as often, but of course we buy a house and all that luck goes right out the window! I'm nervous about the rain because someone mentioned basement seepage, and we have a hole in the roof. Hopefully we'll come through this with the inside of the house dry. I think most of our precip will be rain, so the snow total may not be high, but gosh it makes for a right slippery mess to clean out! I really do hope spring is around the corner. You'd think it's got to come eventually, right?! Stay safe today!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! This is going to be weird to say, but thankfully Lou has spiked to 260, so that's one less thing to worry about. There's that fear of severe hypo situations when you can't get out of the house. Still haven't heard back from the auto shop and this momma's starting to get a bit miffed. I'll give them a half an hour before I call them to ask what the holdup is.

Thanks for the advice! I've never experienced a long-term power outage before. Only a few hours at most. Thankfully my farm-boy husband has, so he's not super worried. We don't have jugs from the litter anymore (they now come in annoying bags), but I was thinking of filling the tubs in the bathroom with water so we would have a bigger supply for flushing. We have some foods that can be eaten without power, but the eggs are a really good idea. We have some kerosene lamps and we just bought some candles for lights. Gosh, it makes me realize how ill-equipped we are for a long term power outage. I'd like to think we should be able to survive until they get the power back on, which you'd think shouldn't be a ridiculously long time in town. I hope it's not nearly as bad as they seem to think it might be. We'll get through somehow or another.

We lost power for 4 days when hurricane Sandy came through. The hardest thing was charging devices. Since everyone was out there was no place to go. So we had to run car to charge them. It was our first long term outage. Our entire house is electric so we had nothing. Including our well so no water at all. We weren't to prepared as who would have thought Sandy would hit the Poconos. Grocery stores have litter in jugs. So when we used the litter we filled jugs and now have 6 filled at all times, just in case.

Good luck! I hope it's over-hyped so whatever does come through will look easy. Here, we're under a flooding advisory that and tomorrow due to all the rain we will get.

Hope your day goes well!

14 days after Ike. We had water but no power except the generator which took 12 gal of gas per day! $$$ But we did have plenty of gas and as a result we had AC, TV w/satellite, refrigerator, freezer and plenty of power strips for all the neighbors phone chargers . Showers were cold. I also have two butane burners to cook on and had the bbq pits.

@Amanda and a Loudogg saying a prayer and please keep us posted if you can.

Dont use candles as they are can be knocked over. Use camping lanterns. Keep all cells plugged until power goes out. Thermometers in the fridge n freezer. Use any drink container ya got to fill with tap water for flushing. I use gallon milk containers & keep in basement. Use open food storage containers of snow in the fridge. You will have plenty to keep fridge cold for awhile.
Keep a cell number of someone in group that can help if you need it with kitties.
Good Luck.
Hope all goes well
Stay safe n warm!

Or light kitties tails on fire. Don't ask how I know this :joyful:. Wasn't Gizmo but the dang cat nearly burnt down the house.

We have a boat so it will fill up with water if we leave the plug in, then we used buckets get yhe water out to flush with. Our water plant has back up generators and kicked on within 2 days. 30 gallon garbage cans work too but would probably freeze unless you can get them into a garage.

You guys are absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for the information and suggestions! So far it's still raining, but it'll get more interesting as the night goes on. I was hoping it wouldn't rain for so long, but hopefully it'll start switching over soon. I think we're as ready as we can be for the time being... Gosh I hope so anyway!

I hope you are getting through the freezing weather.

Leo is the same as me - we are allergic to snow! So here we are in Austin TX. I won't be bragging at all in July. I hope Lou is also doing well in the cold weather.
