We are still playing the "guess the latest dose game". He was doing pretty decent on 28 getting into the blues, but the last 2 days have been icky pinks. I noticed Friday night that he had a small abscess that had ruptured on his tail, strange place to me for one. I thought he had something stuck in his fur until it exposed the abscess. I've been keeping it cleaned up and it feels pretty flat and looks like it is starting to heal up. If not, he will get to have the pleasure of visiting the vet and getting his tail messed with. I'm not sure how much an abscess like that could affect BG, but am trying to give it a day or two to heal up and see if his numbers improve before increasing the Lev dose. I've been giving some R in the meantime to keep the numbers from getting too far up there.

Hope all the kitties and beans are doing good today.

Looks like he could use a tiny increase. Even the 28 was just getting him into high greens.

I hope the abscess heals quickly. Inflammation/infection can impact the numbers.

Luckily it isn't bothering him at all, and he doesn't mind me cleaning it too much. Once he realized I was washing his tail in the sink he just complained a bit and kept the claws in so I call that a win. I think I feel worse for not noticing it earlier, he gets a lot of attention and I usually notice little issue like that. I guess I don't mess with his tail enough or I value my arms not looking like I fought a honey badger... take your pick:smuggrin:

I knew inflammation or infection could raise bg, but I wasn't sure how much an abscess might affect the numbers since it is pretty well contained in the cyst.

It does look like a little bit more insulin might be in order. I'll probably try 30u as the next step up. Honestly, if I can keep him mostly in the blues with touches of green I'd be content. A little green to keep the IAA at bay while keeping him in somewhat safer numbers, if he went into remission I'd start buying lottery tickets:D.

The goal should be mostly under renal threshold. Acromegaly can also be hard on the kidneys so trying to reduce their workload as much as possible is a good thing. I found with Neko that nadirs in the 70's kept the bounces down to a reasonable level, mostly no higher than low yellows. You'll have to see if there is some similar range for Jack.
ETA: Although remission is a remote dream, decent regulation is possible.

Regulation is the primary goal. The IAA needs a little more aggressiveness from what I've read.

If he could make up his mind on a good dose it would sure make things easier. :p

It's nice being back to one syringe. While it is purely symbolic, there's something about 30u.
Overall he is doing pretty good, the cyst is just a little pebble in the road.

Looks like Bronx is doing pretty decent on his latest dose, if we ignore this AM. I'm following his trial to see how he does. Do you know where you got the cabergoline compounded? Sounds like you got a much better deal then I did.

My vet is BluePearl in Paramus, NJ (Dr Christian Erikkson). They use 2 pharmacies for compounding and got a price from both, one was $124, other was $93. Bottle says "100mcg/ml Susp 15 ml", supposed to last 37 days at .4mL per dose 1x/day. Pharmacy is Wedgewood Village Pharmacy in Swedesboro, NJ. I did have an option of capsule or liquid form. RVC told me a day 5 IGF test is not needed, they haven't seen much improvement in 5 days so I will wait till day 30 for a 2nd IGF test, still waiting on the day 0 test to come back. Used a local vet for the IGF test, they will only charge me $110 in the future if I just need the tech to draw the blood and not see the vet.
