3/13 Indy AMPS - 150

Yesterday

Shoot me now....an hour before AMPS the libre sensor cut out. No error message, just stopped transmitting. I'm not home, so I can't ear prick him. I don't want hubby to give Indy his insulin without having an idea of what his number. ARGH!

Will update once we have decided what we are doing....
Was he having f a very low cycle on the Libre?
Ivy’s shuts down if she’s LO for hours at a time 😢

Nope, no LOs just a bit bouncy from the calibration time period.

Mine does this kind of thing often, although the timing was pretty spectacularly bad in this case! I'm glad it came back relatively quickly for you.

(I've found that since I switched to the new Libre app, Gen's sensors take a lot longer to reconnect with it, which is very annoying. Especially since there's nowhere I can place "his" phone in my apartment where it can always be in range, when I'm out - not without severely limiting his territory, which I hate to do.)

That's the crazy part, he was in range the whole time, it just stopped transmitting. Might be because it is new and still in his initial calibration period?

Honestly, that happens to us with some frequency too (especially since switching to the new app), and I have no idea why. It usually comes back after awhile; sometimes restarting either the app, or the whole phone, speeds up the process.

In your shoes, I'd probably have looked at the last known value, and then the overall cycle up to that point, as well as considering when he'd eaten last. Then I'd have made an educated guess about whether he was likely to have gone really low before AMPS, based on past cycles.

If so, I'd probably have gone ahead; it was fairly unlikely that he'd drop to truly dangerous numbers in that missing period. Huge dives around +11 are pretty rare for most cats. I know it's hard since your husband doesn't do ear pricks and you couldn't know when the Libre would come back on, though! If I were really worried, I might have given a half dose for safety, or stalled ... which is essentially what you did! I think you handled it fine. ❤️
