Good early morning, :shock: ~O) :shock:

All is well here in the household this morning. Choco is very close to his amps yesterday morning so I will be curious to see how moving him up a half hour effected him. Hope everyone has a great Sunday. :-D

Thanks Karrie! For some reason, this morning has been rough with the alarm clock, but I've done it. You'd think I went out partying all night with the deep sleeps I've been in. I've haven't seen those days in many many years. Now I just spend my weekends with my fur babies and my quite house and love every minute of it. I hope you all are having a great weekend. I just read Mavericks profile and have a food question but Choco and I are gonna pop over to your condo and say hi, so I"ll ask you there.

My profile must be outdated. Maverick is only eating Special Kitty Turkey and Giblet. Its cheaper than FF and doesn't affect his BG levels. The small cans (3oz cans. The 5oz cans are different and have carbs). Any kind of kibble is an absolute no for diabetic kitties. Its called contraband :lol: I can imagine that feeding a household of cats must get expensive!!!! Maybe others will give you ideas.

Have you checked out binky's lists yet? You guys get a ton of options compared to us in Canada. Maverick won't touch the high end foods.

I do the same - spend my weekends with my dog and cat, chilling out. I've got an energy drink beside me waiting to be opened :cool:

What does your syringe look like. I had a pain with the BD syringes. It had a rubber plunger, but the zero line was way off in over 1/2 of the syringes. If you push the plunger down all the way, the plunger started below the zero line so the dosing lines weren't accurate.

I love the monoject syringes. Flat plunger. There are tips to draw the insulin out. I wonder if someone can repost them. The things that work for me.

Push the plunger in as far as you can and hold it there. Insert it into the vial and then let off on the pressure of the plunger. Slowly draw the insulin while twiting. The twisting helps the bubbles not form, but if there are bubbles they collect at the top in a bigger bubble. Draw a little more insulin than needed. Take syringe out of the vial. Then I pull a teeny bit back on the plunger so I'm sure there are no bubbles (not very easy to describe) and then release the excess insulin (slowly) so the air goes out first. The twisting and slow drawing really helps.

They are the Relion 100 syringes and they do have a rubber plunger. I will try the twisting technique and see if that doesn't help. I just thought if these werent' the best syringes to be using that I would get something different this next go around. I also do hold the plunger all the way in when I'm sticking it in the pen. Thanks for the tip!

I used to love the Monster (blue can)Energy drinks but they started putting the poundage on me so I had to stop. I really love the Red Bull sugar free shots. I think they are a little spendy at almost 3 bucks a pop but they really help give me energy without making me feel weird like the 5hr engery shots do.

Morning! WOW on the numbers for Choco - how wonderful to have a low amps, followed by all that green! :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

FWIW - I use the monojet syringes - like them alot. I too had issues with the BD's for the reasons Karrie stated. No problems here with the monojet, very few bubbles, dosing lines are consistent too.

Choco is starting out the day beautifully :mrgreen:
I just started using Sure Comfort syringes, and hate them. The lines show up nicely, but the plunger is more round than flat. And it looks bumpy even to my eye. Back to Monoject.

Thanks for getting Karrie to mention that Special Kitty has the turkey. I'm going to try theirs and see if it affects Checks bg. I don't know positively that FF does, but have my suspicions.

The UltiCare syringes are the ones that are off Maria. The ReliOns seem to be more accurate.

Okay, good about the Relion syringes. They are so easy to get at Walmart and I was thinking I might have to be ordering some off the internet.

Piggie is doing good Natalia. She will be getting the echo tomorrow at 10:00. I'll update you all as soon as I know what's going on.

Choco is really surfing those greens.

Update on the drooler: She has done really well so far. No oopsie's in the house, I can take her out in the yard without a leash and she gets along really well (other then a few chases here and there) with the kitties. The only two things she has done is started using the kitties scratching post that's on the ground as a chew toy and yesterday, she chewed the bottom step of the kitties stairs that lead up to my bed. cat(2)_steam I had to have been knocked out cold to not hear her chomping away on that. I haven't seen her chewing on either one since I told her no so we'll see how it goes. I mean I know she is a puppy so I expected some chewing but I was hoping that she would stick to the cow hoof (I know, gross) she got.

Karrie, I didn't answer your question about the Binky's list. I do have the list and need to sit down and see what other options I might have. I've always been leery of Special Kitty because I heard a story of it killing cats. Don't ask me where I heard it but it was a long time ago. If you've been feeding the Turkey and Giblets to Maverick then I trust that it is okay and will check into it next time I go to Walmart. Is that the only brand of Special Kitty that you use?

Maverick is an extremely picky eater. He gets this 95% of the time. And sometimes some ocean whitefish and tuna. But we don't have the selection that the US does with fancy feast either. Special Kitty T&G is the only food he will eat consistently. The switch to wet food in January 2010 was a nightmare. IT took us four months to get him eating it well enough to maintain his weight and we had to syringe feed him to keep his weight loss slow. I'm very lucky he eats this. Variety is good in my opinion though. Not feeding just one type of food like we do. If they ever change the recipe a little bit on us, we might be in a ton of trouble.

I swear I don't know why this time change has to be so complicated in my head. I really honestly don't know if I've messed up Choco's shots but I do know for sure that he is on the new 6:00 time because I just gave him his shot so we'll see how things look going forward. It should be so simple but it's so not. :o Anyway, I can't think about it anymore. :roll: I hope everyone has enjoyed their Sunday. I'm really loving this extra hour of daylight we're going to have. :razz:

Maria: really nice day for Choco and I'm so glad to hear Piggie is better...hope you will share the echo results.

I've tried Relion, BD, and Monoject syringes and like the MJs BY FAR. I felt the Relions were also as unreliable as the BDs in the unit markings....and I got lots of bubbles that were hard to get rid of even using the "technique" in FDMB. Just IMHO...

I get them from hocks.com.....I think Ann and Michelle (both of whom use them) also get from hocks.
