Skip has always been the poster child for easy tight regulation until recently. BG nuumbers have been steadily climbing and dose has been steadily increased. Numbers are not alarming [200+] but I can't get them down.

Discarded a 3-week old cartridge and started a new one: no change in BG levels.
Bought new insulin: no change in BG levels.
Vet exam and bloodwork: nothing found wrong. Waiting for urine culture result.

The cat who surfed on 0.5u is now getting 2.0 units and I am at wit's end. Any thoughts that you might have on this situation would be very welcome.

Hmm no answers here if all medical looks good. If you are on fb there's a lantus land group that you could post the question. Just ask to join the group and someone will friend you.

Hi, it's great the exam and bloodwork were okay. I hope it's not a UTI, since you're waiting on the urine culture. It's a little quiet right now, but others should be on later for some input.

Hi Pat,
It's great that you ruled out the insulin, took Skipper to the vet...you're doing all the right things. I'm not familiar with Skip, but I took a look at his SS, and I see several episodes of vomiting and some comments about appetite...is that typical for him? Does he have a history of pancreatitis? Other thoughts....has he had a dental, and if so, how long ago? Was the vet able to get a look in his mouth at all? When the vet did the bloodwork, did he check T4 and Free T4 levels? Of course, the urine culture could show an infection.

Sometimes when something is just starting to brew, the BG numbers start to climb, but there's no obvious symptoms. That can make it difficult and frustrating to find the cause until symptoms show up. It would be so much easier if they could tell us where they don't feel good, wouldn't it?

((((Pat)))) it does look like there must be something going on. Laurie's thoughts are pretty much the same as mine. Dental, pancreatitis, thyroid, urine. Did they do an fPLI? And T4 and free T4?
