Georgia and Simon (GA)

Another good start to Simon's day. I still haven't picked up the antibiotic from the vet for Simon's slight UTI but I will do it this morning. I still want to talk to the vet and tell him that Simon's numbers are back to normal and he doesn't seem to be having symptoms of a UTI. The vet even said the urine culture was not that significant but because Simon is diabetic, he thought it might be good to go ahead and put him on the antibiotic just in case. I'll see what he suggests. Anyway, Simon is doing well this morning but this bean is a little tired from having to get up earlier to adjust to the time change tomorrow. I am the type that once I am awake, I can't go back to sleep so here I am bright and early typing away.

Continued thoughts and prayers for those in Japan.

Hi Georgia. Happy Saturday. Simon is looking so awesome. What a relief to see them low blues. Hope your heart is recouperating after the workout its gotten too ohmygod_smile

Did you get any replies on Health?

Re: 3/12 Simon AMPS 106

Karrie, I did get a couple of replies on health. One said that if he is not experiencing any symptoms of UTI, to just monitor. I'm going to ask my vet if he thinks that is an option with this type of bacteria. If I monitor, I think it would be best to then do another urine culture in a couple of weeks.

Good morning, Georgia!

Great AMPS for Simon today! It would be nice if you could skip the AB's if they're not needed. Good luck with the vet discussion! I'm glad Simon's numbers have improved and he's not showing any symptoms.

I know what you mean, once I'm awake, there is no going back. This results in some strange activity at 5 AM sometimes.

Re: 3/12 Simon AMPS 106

Good morning guys ... very nice numbers simon! So glad to see the numbers back down .. and I also agree it would be great if you could skip the ab's and just monitor ... Hope you guys have a great day!

Re: 3/12 Simon AMPS 106

I like seeing that AMPS number!! I agree that if you opt to monitor, repeating the culture is advisable.

(And please let Simon know that if he keeps up these pretty numbers, you'll be able to poke him less and less and less.)

Yeah for green today! I went to pick up the antibiotic at the vet this morning and also to talk to him about possibly holding off on the antibiotic and just monitoring the next few days. Simon has really come down with his numbers and is eating very well and playing alot. Of course, my vet wasn't there today and the other vet does not want to make a decision since she doesn't know Simon. We decided to hold off on the antibiotic until Simon's vet can call me on Monday morning to discuss. He can always go on it then.

Morning! There is the numbers that I remember for Simon - so very nice to see!

FWIW - on the possible UTI. I went through this with Mannie. First UA was borderline, so we opted to monitor, etc. Within a couple of weeks he had a nasty one. so - just be sure to repeat the UA.

It is great to read that he's back to being normal Simon. Excellent!

Great numbers for Simon...so glad to see him back in green.

I'm not big on the use of ABs when not needed but I've also had a kitty who has had UTIs with no symptoms; a free catch came back with bacteria, then we did a C&S that was negative, but an U/S showed pyelonephritis....so just be cautious and be sure you recheck soon. Healing vines to Simon!
