3/11 Racci AMPS-127,+3-110,PMPS-194

Hi Lantus Land!
Racci is starting out where she did yesterday bg-wise (a new word) She had her Adequan shot yesterday and seems to be in an extra good mood today. I imagine that's the reason. I was able to get her to lie on her back in my arms so I could get the inside of her legs with the brush and a few little knots cut out on her belly and now her fur looks so much nicer. Racci's fur is so long, thick and wavy at this time of year that she needs two brushings a day and the house still looks like it was never vacuumed or dusted! She does look beautiful though with all that fluffy fur.

Racci had all 'p's today except for playing. We haven't had time yet since we did all the brushing this morning but will play this afternoon as soon as I get a chance. I have laundry and cleaning to do & the computer repairman comes tomorrow so I want to get most things done today so I can watch. Hopefully it will just be the ac adapter now and not another huge job.

Well, talk to you later! I hope you're all feeling well and especially the kitties. I'm sending health vines to all that need them and strength vines to the families who lost precious ones this past week.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Nice numbers for Racci today... given her glands are hurting ...

so how did you know it was arthritis....
I don't mind the adequan, especially if it helps.... but I saw this the other day and so far no one else has used this supplement . I asked in the main forum.
My vet is guessing arthritis so we are trying the adequan.
see what you think?

Re: 3/12 Racci AMPS-128,+3-68

Hi Rhiannon,

I give the Glucosamine also. So does Marje and a few others I think. I think it has Chondroitin in it also. I tried that on Racci first and it helped but not enough so I give both and between the two, they really do a good job. (I take the human version). She lets me brush her legs now which she wouldn't do at all before and she doesn't have many bad walking days either anymore. The one Racci takes is called Cosequin cat capsules with sprinkles. I mix them with water. Most vets recommend the cosequin first and then the adequan if the cosequin doesn't help enough. There's another called Dasuquin that I haven't tried yet that is supposed to be better than the Cosequin. You can get them at Amazon or any of the pet stores.

Most People guess at the arthritis by where the pain is and a process of elimination. It's not worth putting them thru the pain and aggravation of xrays to verify it when the odds are so strong that it is arthritis at their age and with no other obvious reasons.

Racci is lower today. I'm happy to see the lower numbers. She was really getting high there. Once I can get her into the vet I'm sure she'll start to feel better with some ab;s.

Talk to you later. I have to go test.

Hugs,

Melanie & Racci

Hey, Melanie and Racci -

I'll bet Racci IS beautiful all brushed out! I can only imagine with all her hair - I know what the room looks like after I've Furminated my short haired kitties! :o

NICE numbers, Racci!!

Hershey had hip surgery several years ago and would have days that he'd just plop down on the floor, mid-stride, seemingly in pain. I had thought about trying Glucosamine, but since his BG had gotten better, that seems better, too. I'm thinking maybe the extra moving around he does now, plus maybe the weight management? I don't know. But, I'm taking notes on these condos, just in case I need to know in the future - THANKS!!

Have a great night -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Re: 3/12 Racci AMPS-128,+3-68

Hi Libby!

I give Methyl B12, Cosequin and the Adequan because of the diabetes and arthritis but would give the Cosequin at her age even if she didn't have them. I would suggest you get it for Hershey if he had hip surgery. It's a supplement and can only help him and prevent problems from forming.

Racci really is gorgeous when brushed but it lasts for such a shot time. :YMSIGH: It starts waving and she rolls around and it's all over again in no time. When I finish with her tho, her hair on her sides comes past her knees if I brush it down instead of back. :o Its so funny. I read a paper on how to groom Persians because her fur is similar to theirs only a little shorter. They claim you have to brush each part for 15 minutes to get the undercoat all out. Well even if I manage to get her to let me brush in one area for a whole 15 minutes, her undercoat is not all out! I never get a clear brush like they claim I will. This is one of the few times she has absolutely no knots!!!!!

I always save notes from the condos that have good info too. It's really helpful to see what other people do!

Talk to you later. I have to update. I just took her 8pm and fed dinner. Thanks for visiting.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Looking good, Racci, from the brushing and BG-wise. :-D We give our civie Cosequin and are constantly amazed at how well it works.

Hi Liz!

I see Zener is looking good too. I was visiting earlier and quite impressed with the way he protects his property. He must be feeling well. I meant to leave a note but may have been pulled away first.

The Cosequin really surprised me too! I use it for myself (the human kind) and it helps but not as fast as it seems to help Racci.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting and have a great night!

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Thanks, Melanie! Today, I've been reading about Cosequin. I used to take Glucosamine/Chondroitin but stopped because I didn't really think it helped. Of course, that was many miles ago. ;-) I think I'll try it, again, and let Doug try it, too. Thanks, again!

Hope you're having a wonderful day -

Hi Libby,

I thought it wasn't doing anything for me also and stopped but when I started again I saw that I was wrong because it did help after all.

Will fill you in on today after I open today's condo. It's one of those days.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Hey Sweetie!! Yes I am still lurking & saw your post-Glad Racci is getting all that good arthritis stuff, Moonie was getting it too..It does work!
She has nice numbers too!! Glad to see her doing well--We are still muddling along, trying to get our Life back--Maybe going home in 3 weeks or so--WHOOO HOOOO, but it doesnt compensate for all we lost including Moonie--Miss her so so much,
BTW--The next product up from Cosequin is Dasuquin, which is same manufacturer, only added kidney protection with avocado/soybean Unsaponifiables--I saw a difference in 3-4 weeks!

Hugs & Much Love from me!! Feel Good Racci!
