Yesterday

Yesterday FDMB went down and told me my IP address was banned. :confused:I had a mini heart attack that I was not going to be able to post on here anymore. I'm so glad it was just a glitch with the system. Hey guys, don't scare me like that again!:eek:

So after Ozzy visited the lagoon yesterday, in 3 hours he bounced up from 73 to 294 for PMPS time. That pretty much ruined his PM cycle. I tested him at +4 last night and he was 296. I didn't bother testing him the rest of the cycle because I didn't think he was going to get back to green and I wanted to give his ears a pokey break.

Today he started yellow and got back to green at +5 where he is cruising now. I have to say, I'm so very happy to see all this green back on his spreadsheet, but I'm a little nervous as we go back to work tomorrow and can't monitor. Yesterday he went all the way down to 50 which is the very edge of earning a reduction. He every may well get back to 50 on this cycle as well. We will see...

Hey Jo :bighug:....u have become a Lantus pro :)....Give Ozzy some scritches from us :bighug::cat:Happy rest of Sunday :bighug::):bighug::cat:

Big WHEW!!
That would scare the beejeezes out of me too! I 'bout had a heart attack when the server went down while Gussie was figuring out how far he wanted to bend the rules..I distinctly remember thinking " so this is what they mean by abject terror...":nailbiting::nailbiting:
Looking pretty fine on that board there Ozzie! :D:cat::bighug:

Ozzy sure likes bouncing from those low numbers. Went from 74 to 359 at PMPS. What gives???

His +2 has him back in the yellows (256). Hoping he'll see blue again this cycle. Green would be even better. So now I have to just pray that if he continues to see green on this dose while we're at work, that it's not toooo low of a green. I hate this part- not knowing what's happening on a dose that we are concerned about when we have to be away from the home. Drives me nuts. I just always hold my breath when I walk in the door and hope to find my kitty well and ok.

Ozzy and Figgie got a big present from mommy today. I brought them home a 5 foot tall kitty tree with 3 levels. Parked it right up next to the window and they have been enjoying it this evening. Hope they like it. The under the chair hammocks never really took. I kept having to force Ozzy and Figgie into them hoping they would eventually get the hang of them. Ozzy will sit in his for a few minutes and then take off. They have never gone in them on their own and Figgie pretty much wants nothing to do with them. Shame, they are so cute and so soft!

+4=220. Was hoping he would be lower. :(

I feel like I am messing this up. I think I am being too conservative because I am scared of Ozzy dropping low and the result is he has been spending way too much time in higher numbers and above renal threshold. I have insulin and should be doing more to help my kitty but I am just so scared of something bad happening to him while I am at work. This sucks. :(:(:(:arghh::arghh::arghh:

Maybe I should try to leave him a MC meal in the day. I need to start getting more serious about trying to get him regulated. He has been on insulin for almost 4 months now and has never been regulated. It is difficult because Ozzy fluctuates so much on doses and with BGs on any given dose. There is almost no predictability with Ozzy. I am really frustrated and sad and don't know what I am doing wrong.

FD is also an acronym for frustrating disease. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Neko was on insulin 4 months before she saw green. It took 14 months after that before she stopped visiting the red floor on a regular basis. Remember the saying "it's a marathon, not a sprint"? It takes time, and it's ECID on how long. Ozzy is still fairly new at this game. Also remember that most vets would be thrilled to see a kitty nadir in the mid blues and most people with diabetic cats don't home test. You are doing WAY more than most people. You are a great kitty mom. :bighug:

If you are worried about how low he'll go during the day, then by all means leave him an MC meal during the day. As kitties see more green, they bounce less and flatten out. Ozzy will get there.

I agree with Wendy..you are not messing this up, Ozzy is simply doing this his way:bighug:
It is a hard dance you are dancing, be kind to yourself as it is playing out.."each cat in his/her own time should be carved above each of our homes...."
Hang in there, hard as it is, try to enjoy each step for what it is, another chance to learn what makes Ozzy tick...:bighug::bighug::bighug: and another chance to draw/bond ever closer with him.. more info pieces for that big puzzle that will make the scary steps a bit easier to take when you are ready:bighug:
Think of how far you have come from that first verrrrry scary ear poke and insulin draw and shot! You are a great mama Bean, no question about that here!:bighug::bighug:you never said "Diabetes? Sorry can't deal with that...." you stepped up..that's no small feat!
Big hugs

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement @Wendy&Neko and @Gussie's mom

I know they say one day at a time, marathon not a sprint. Ozzy seems happy right now and I love seeing him feel better. I am just really concerned about long term damage from him being above the renal threshold so long. His organs all have no permanent damage from the FD and I think that will change if I can't get him regulated. He is my baby and I love him so much. I don't want him to have any other health problems. I honestly wish I could get him into remission. I know it may never happen for him or if it does, it could take a long time.

We will see where this dose takes him and just keep trying to do our best.

Thanks again ladies. The kind words mean so much!

I truly understand your frustration, Jo. :bighug:

Oh, Jo :bighug::bighug::bighug:Just know u are in my thoughts and prayers every day, that u will know what to do and have peace while not there. Your career is high stress enough so believing Ozzy regulates SOON :bighug:
