Oh that Deb! I agree--she is doing an awesome job with Lucian and is a lot smartest/experienced than she gives herself credit for! (Hey Deb: Here's to you: drinking24 ). Gobbles is what I've always call "high maintenance" and I admit the favorite; maybe he's "milking" this diabetic thing! Sadly it hit me after his dx that the signs were all there; in fact, my daughter came home from college one day and say "Mom, what's wrong with Gobby? Why haven't you taken him to the vet? Hi Kat - nice to meet you....seems like you've had quite a ride with Gobbles......but those reductions are awesome and it does sound like he's almost there.
Yep - Mel has been a =great help to me and Deb insists she's mostly a cheering section but I think she doesn't give herself enough credit - Lucian is definitely a tricky furkid to manage and she does an exceptional job.
Jez is so far so good - she's young for a diabetic (just turned 6) and I understand its rarer in females as well. But then, she's always had issues of one sort of another - she's the neediest cat I've ever had....but at the same time probably the most adoring - so it all works out. She was diagnosed the second week of January, but I have a feeling she'd actually been diabetic for a month or so already - I just didn't recognize the signs. I'm hoping she'll eventually be able to come OTJ - it sure would make my life easier - but time will tell and the important part is that she's happy.
